The Islanders have ALOT of young talent, that is closer to maturing than the Oilers. If it wasn't for their arena/relocating/fan base issues, they would be just as attractive for a young player looking for a future contender to grow with.

I think Columbus is horrible and will get worse believe it or not. I think they are the other team.

Does anyone know if McDonagh and Schultz were actually tight? They didn't play together for very long.

Probably not like really good friends or anything but they were teammates for a year and were both defensemen, I'm sure they knew each other pretty well. I think it's a little more about a guy that Schultz knows and played with telling him "yeah, this organization is great, the coach is awesome and we had a great year and as a guy coming out college they handled me well and now I'm like one of the league leaders in icetime "

Less about friendship and more about a guy he knows and can trust more than a random player telling him about the benefits of playing for the Rangers

That alone makes me believe we'll get this kid. I believe Torts won't guarantee him a roster spot and emphasize that he'll have to earn his spot on the roster. If we don't get him then I think it's a blessing in disguise as this kid really doesn't have the motor that people think he has and will be looking for the easy route to success.
