Wouldn't mind seeing Doan on the Flyers at all. But he's a bit pricy.

I like Doan, but I would bummed if he leaves Phoenix. He was that franchise since it was in the 'Peg. I know it's a business and he wants to win and I don't blame him, I just always thought it was cool he stuck with them for so long.

I didn't expect him to test the market. He just screams Flyer hockey when you watch him play. It wouldn't surprise me if he leaves the Coyotes that he would come play on this team. Signing him would also give them the ability to bring Jagr back.

Hartnell/Giroux/Jagr
Voracek/Briere/Doan

That is a great top 6

He wants to return there, but he's also concerned about their future. I can't think of a better way to handle a tough situation than how Doan has doneso for the better part of the last 15 years.

Why not? Doan is much cheaper then Parise which I am sure is their top target.

Do. Want.

50-60 pts, 150-200 hits, leadership. May take a discount to win a Cup. Wants a 3-4 year deal (35+).

Cause your not taking Voracek into account and with what he did last year he deserves top 6 minutes

You could do both, it just means pushing someone (likely Read or Couturier) out of the top 9...

Wow if Doan is really expecting an AAV north of $5M then pass. I like him but that's a lot of cap space for an old guy with a ton of mileage on him. He has been durable but he's going to be getting older, slower, and less effective.

Which no one should reasonably want to do. The goal is to develop your assets. Couturier needs to be at least on the 3rd line... Read doesn't deserve a demotion to the 4th line... would be completely counter-productive to the franchises longterm goals.

I agree with you for the most part, but Laviolette likes rolling four lines and this would give him the ability to do that, so I wouldn't be shocked if something like this occurs.

2 year deal max, at a 4.5 mil cap hit.

Anything else and the flyers should pass.

I'd skip out on Jagr if we got Doan. It'd still leave Voracek top 6 mins.

Hartnell - Giroux - Doan
Voracek - Schenn - Briere
Read - Couturier - Simmonds
Wellwood - Talbot - Sestito (Prust?)

Coburn - Grossmann
Carle - Meszaros (Schultz?)
Timonen - Schenn

Swapping JvR and Jagr for Doan and Schenn will add an additional 300-350 hits, and much better defense. The Flyers certainly got larger on the wings last season with Jagr, but it wasn't entirely effective size. Jagr had like 15 hits all season? This organization wants to get some bite back to it's name...productive bite, Schenn and Doan are good steps in that direction.

If the desire is more mash on the team.

In theory (execution is another thing):

Let Jagr and Carle walk.

Sign Doan to beef up the forwards. Try to sign a big guy like Gill.

Not supporting this, just noting it could be done.

Grossmann, Schenn, Coburn, Meszaros...we don't need any more big defensemen really.

I agree.

I would be more inclined to let Jagr walk for Doan, however, than worry about the d getting bigger. D is already big enough, like you said.

Waive Shelley, whatever, to make the dollars work out to a bit over 4 million.

I posted somewhere previously I would love to have him on the Flyers. I would imagine Coyotes get a deal done. Doan would be an upgrade over Jagr. 2 years would be perfect, 3 would probably get it done. 4 year would be if a team was desperate.3 year 12 million get it done?
W/e Lines are like, 8 out of the 9 is set for next season.
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek?
Doan-Couts-Briere (however you want to put lines 2/3 doesn't matter)
Read-Schenn-Simmonds
4th line of Rinaldo-Talbot-Shelley Wellwood/HarryZ/Sestito/AHL prospect

With Doan at around say 5 million even and voracek plus 4 liner, Flyers cap would be at 63 million or so. So if the cap really does go up to 70 million or so (before going back down) flyers have about 6.5 million to play around with including shelley. If you subtract shelley flyers have even more money to spend. So yes, Doan on flyers!

Shane Doan is main target at UFA-market

If you see the list of coming UFA wingers, Parise is gooood but there is so many others that will want him, and the price is very big.
Semin, i dont really ****ing way want him near this awesome team, never.
Whitney, too old and not so Flyer look a like player.
Jagr, maybe mut only to second line.

So i think there is best to do is put all our trying to get Doan here, i think he is best overal player and we have nice change to get him here if he is our main target.

Worstcase scenario is that we go after Parise, somebody (Wild) get him, then we go after Semin who is signed to Detroit and then we call Doan , hey my friend you are our third option here do you want to come here? Guy like Doan want to be there where he is number one option.

So bring Doan here please.

Sorry. i don´t know what i was thinking, my thought was to reply here but i did new thread.

If i were Gm, i would do anything to bring Doan here, then upgrade Voracek to Ryan and bring UFA allround defender. If there is still cap, bring bottom six guy like Steve Ott, who can be pain in the ass and do some points, hit and fight.

Something like this:

My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m)
Shane Doan ($5.000m) / Brayden Schenn ($3.110m) / Danny Briere ($6.500m)
Steve Ott ($2.950m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m)
Tom Sestito ($0.605m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m)
Eric Wellwood ($0.580m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Braydon Coburn ($4.500m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Jason Garrison ($3.000m) / Bryan Allen ($3.000m)
Matt Carkner ($1.000m) /
GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.667m)
Chris Mason ($1.550m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,364,444; BONUSES: $2,705,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $835,556

Garrison and Allen is there cause i didn´t get any better ideas there, but good defenders , why not.

^ all of that is a massive pipe dream.

Garrison is getting 4 million before you start.

Voracek doesn't bring you Ryan alone.

Steve Ott has already had a run in with Lavy.

We just got rid of one backup who was making 1.5 million. I can't see us bringing in another one.

Agreed(unless its Weber). But adding Doan would be really sweet. I just do not see him leaving Phoenix but if he hits the market we have to kick the tires to see if he would be interested coming here. Man I would love to see him in Orange and Black!
