Trade Rumors, Proposals, and OOT Signings Thread - Now Unofficially Official

Not sure why the last 10 threads had the "unofficial" tag in the title, but we can carry on discussing trade rumours, and trades/signings involving other NHL teams here. Obviously Oiler related trades (completed ones) and signings can have their own threads.

Recent rumours/reports being discussed in the last thread:

- Brodeur will be testing free agency. Could mean Parise and Salvador possibly looking elsewhere too.

- Jordin Tootoo as a possible UFA target

- Enforcer talk (possible Laraque comeback)

- Jokinen to test the market

- Sarich re-signs in Calgary (2 years, $2M per)

That's my favourite kind of "ficial"

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed on either a buyout or flipping the Horcoff to a Salary Cap floor team.

All goons are useless in today's NHL. What did Hordichuk do for us last year? Not a thing.

I'd rather use a roster spot on a player who can penalty kill or at least play 10 minutes a night.
?

Hordichuk did his job fine. Blame Renney for not knowing how to use our tough guys effectively.

It took ten threads, but we finally scratched and clawed our way to "official."

At this rate there aren't going to be any defensemen left on July 1.

Hordichuk, as a fourth line forechecker is fine, but there is NO way to use "tough guys" effectively.

There's not one single stage fighter in the NHL who was of any use, at least by way of stage fighting.

Yes.
The day of the goon is done. You need guys that know their role on the team. Ben Eager does not know his role. He tricked me!

This.

We need players on our fourth line that can play a physical game and be strong on the forecheck for ten minutes a night. Not players that only play three minutes a night and spend most of it skating around the ice asking the other team's tough guys if they want to fight instead of playing hockey.

I love fighting as much as anybody, even though I don't think an enforcer is necessary. With that said, I would welcome the return of Hordichuk for another year.

As a 13th forward, you'll get more use out of him than the vast majority of useless thugs.

agreed.

on the subject of "official", well we just like having an extended trial period. High standards before a thread can graduate to the big time.

BREAKING: can confirm Roberto Luongo has been traded to the Florida Panthers. Deal should be announced today. More to come.

I really think the Oil should try to get Tootoo, not only will he be the pest we have always wanted (and actually do the intended job and give it 100%), but I think he would be great for the community as well.

Can't see that much. I think a really good prospect not named Gudbransson or Huberdeau and a 2nd, maybe a first.

I doubt it. They asked for Bjugstad and were apparently refused. As per fourth period.

I hope that they're getting another defenceman. Just to seal the deal for the Oilers with Schultz.

Brodeur on the market lower their asking price?

I want a better source, though.
