But if the Luongo deal happens than I don't see us getting him or any of the top forwards. I guess the best we could hope for would be Brad Boyes IMO on a cheaper deal around $2.5-3.5M. We will still have scoring problems next season and I would expect us to miss the playoffs.

I think we can afford both! We have unloaded a lot of players and IF Luongo does go through, I think most are right that possibly Upshall goes the other way. I don't think it's so far fetched that we also get Semin too. Again, if Viner okayed a Luongo deal, why would he say no to bringing In an elite scorer?

Also, quick comment. Dreger had posted on twitter about Brodeur and mentioned him leaving for... Fla... Anyone got any info on this or was he just talking?

We still got to re-sign Kulikov and Versteeg to raises.

The twitter post said that Brodeur was looking at us and Tampa.

Having the option to sign Brodeur increases our leverage in any Luongo deal even more, assuming Brodeur would actually sign here. It'd still cost a lot to acquire him, but he'd be on a short-term contract and we wouldn't have to give up anything to get him.

Hasn't anyone told Brodeur he is 40 already and made his millions and needs to retire, since there's nothing more for anyone at that age to possibly play for any more?

We make the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and now Luongo and Brouduer want to join the team.

I think that Brodeur thing is a little out there... and I highly doubt he leaves the Devils, and even if he does... us? Really...

Yea I would imagine a team such as Chicago would make a lot more sense for Brodeur.
