This is what happens when players understand the situation, like the organization and more importantly, love the teammates they`re playing with.

I am surprised Harrold re-signed, I expected he would go elsewhere to look for a full time job, because here he can only be a seventh defenceman.

Once we hear Boulton was bought out or waived, and Marty re signed I'll be happy. Parise is going to July 1st no matter what.

So as of right now, with these re-signings taken into account:

1.) How much cap space do we have available?

2.) How much money in actual salary do have we committed to next season?

Good to see the depth guys locked up. It's strange to see that Marty hired an agent though.

I don't know about that. If they resign Parise that probably means Sal's as good as gone.

Same here, I'm pleasantly surprised both Harrold and Carter didn't go to July 1, and that Harrold returned at all.

So this is what we have so far as I can tell. I fully expect Marty and Moose back though. Two ?s at forward are Parise, Sykora, and Poni.

Elias - Zajac - Kovalchuk
? - Henrique - Zubrus
? - Josefson - Clarkson
Gionta - Carter - Bernier
Janssen, Boulton

Greene - Volchenkov
Larsson - Tallinder
Fayne - Zidlicky
Harrold

Even with Sal gone, we have six NHL calibre defencemen under contract, excluding Harrold:

Tallinder, Larsson, Volchenkov, Fayne, Greene, and Zidlicky.

Still no room for him, except as a seventh defenceman.

Not unless Zach walks and you have to trade one of the d-men to get a forward, that might be the only reason I could see keeping the porch light on for Sal. There's no room for him otherwise.

Ledger_NJDevils: Ryan Carter's new deal with the Devils: 2 years, $1.55 million. He'll get $750,000 in 2012-13 and $800,000 in 2013-14.

That's an excellent price for him. Well done Lou. Now if only he can lock up the big prizes.

Any numbers on Gionta? Whatever they are, I can't imagine he got more than Bernier and Carter, so it looks like we've locked them all up for under $2.5 M. Great stuff.

Seeing as we still have two goalies and two scoring forwards to sign this really shouldn't be a concern. I mean really if we were so destitute we can't even get to the cap floor then they wouldn't even be having discussions with Zach. Not to mention the NHL would have taken the team by force already.

Don't you know we're gonna trade for Tim Thomas and Chris Pronger so they can sit on our cap but we don't have to pay them because Thomas and semi retired and Pronger is a stumble over a sidewalk curb from being a veggie.

Does anyone have that clip of Gionta absolutely booking it from center ice, and the camera has to pan out to keep track of the play? They were going towards the left of the screen, if that helps.

He's going to get a shot at a regular job. Debo's not a fan of Larson. Yet. Thinks he needs a couple of years.

Pending Harrold's contract details:

$44.466M in cap space committed to next season.

$47.175M in actual salary committed to next season.

I didn't factor RFA Mark Fayne into the calculations.
