You really want to give Pareanteau the $5M or so he'll command?

The market is so weak. He's, what, the 3rd or 4th top winger on the market?

Give me a top 6 right winger and Prust and I'm happy up front going into the season.

Thin I'd rather the Dman ahead of anything.

Stastny, that I can see as being possible for a trade. Personally, not sure if I'd do it... Only because you end up with this situation, you get the issue of having a goalie retiring soon. And getting Nabokov won't be easy as I'm sure the Red Wings, among others, will go for him as they tried before. Either way, he's not the type of player Habaneros was alluding to.

I'd be very into a trade with the type of player Habaneros is alluding to if a GM offers one. But it'll never happen.

I really doubt he will get that much. 4 million per season makes way more sense.

If not Suter I say just roll with what we have and wait for the kids. Tinordi is very close.

You know how many teams need a Top-6 winger? At least half of them.

Do you know how many top-6 wingers are on the market? Maybe 5.

67 points last season, 53 the year before.

Once Parise and Semin are gone he's by far the best forward available unless Doan actually goes to free agency. Excluding the older guys like Jagr and Whitney who would just be 1 year deals.

The cap will be at 70.2 and there are many teams with lots of cap space.

5.5 wouldn't even surprise me with Parenteau. Hell 6 on a 3 year deal wouldn't shock me.

Last year Scottie Upshall got 3.5 for 4 years.

While considering he played on a bad team, yet probably with Tavares (I think). Those are pretty good numbers for the number of seasons he's had.

From what I understand for the last 3 months of last season PAP wasn't playing with Tavares.

either way...what's wrong with a player producing when he's placed on a line with another good player?

Nothing, unless you're short like Desharnais.

There isn't really one. But you always have somebody give the argument that their points are mostly thanks to the star player in the line.

Nothing...I just don't think that Parenteau fits the habs needs enough that giving him the 25 million over 5 years is a good move for them.

Fair enough...but he's one of the premier free agents this year. So unless he wants to play for the Habs exclusively, paying him above market is likely what it's going to take IF Bergevin sees him as a target.

I'm on the fence about Parenteau...I like the fact he's an offensive player, can help the PP and he's a right handed shot. On the other hand, he doesn't have much sandpaper in his game, but i'm sure there's some interest from Habs

Seriously you want the guy who played even less than Markov and crashed and burned here once already over a guy that IS putting up numbers. Yea PA is older but he is a far better player than Lats is or will ever be.

Contracts will have something to do with it. I'm sure anyone would take PA if he wanted to sign for $1M, which is around what Latendresse will likely get.

Le Canadien n'offrira pas de contrat Brad Staubitz. Il devient joueur autonome sans compensation.

So much for wanting to get tougher.. He is already well liked in the room and will drop them with whoever no questions asked.

Any other tough guys available through UFA who would sign for cheap and play little minutes?

Not only that, he wins more often than not. Could've been a spark in our lineup.

I'll keep my opinion until we evaluate the roster in october, I don't like to rush my judgement.
