I guess we learned that Minnesota was going to meet face-to-face. Also Vancouver signed RD Old Man Salo. Some people are taking that as a positive sign.

Is any body else getting the feeling that this guy just might be a colossal pain in the A$$???

I mean do we really, really want this guy? I guess we do otherwise why go to the trouble of putting on the dog and pony show. Wonder how Torts felt kow towing to some 21 year old like this?

Not that I think it will be much of a factor, but some of you seem to be getting a kick out of it.

reports that say Canucks are talking to Salo are false as well. Not talked for 3 weeks.

BTW it's 1.20 am in Finland. Sami's been sleeping for hours now. so NO contract talks between Sami and Canucks at all.

i hear ‪#Canucks‬ "offer" to Salo was more of a slap in the face than anything else. and this was 3 weeks ago. radio silence after that.

This is for anyone judging the kids personality without ever meeting him.

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...#ixzz1zDp03l9M

Quiet, soft spoken, respectful. He used an option that was available to him in the CBA to play where he wants to. He never demanded a trade, and Newport turned this into a whole circus, along with the media hype.

This kid sounds like a complete a-hole. Not a quality character guy to have on this team.

Gilroy 2.0, except the fact that there isn't a single comparison to be made.

The people talking crap about this kid is simply laughable. I have yet to see one thing that shows me he has a huge ego. Kid seems like a great person.

I don't pay attention to all the crap people say about him. Torts will turn him into a man. Didn't Lecavalier not get along with Torts at first? He seems pretty mature now.

I don't remember any problems any of our players had under Tortorella behavior-wise. Even Avery.

No, I posted that because people are posting all this slanderous information about what they think this type of kid is without even knowing who he is. He not only seems like he has great potential but he seems like a wonderful person. He would fit wonderfully on this team. Hopefully he sees that and comes here.

Tons of other players get drafted and play for their team.

I don't care if he's a nice kid, the provision is stupid and i'm not a big fan of guys who decide to use it.

The kid had his choice to stay in school or go to the Ducks . He stayed in school the 3 years were up so he becomes a UFA . Nothing wrong with that . He will be getting the same $ if he signed in NY FLA or Hong KOng ! He is doing what a smart person should do find the right spot for his future . Most people just jump at the first spot that comes at them and it blows up in there face . I like what he is doing and i think more young kids should do it .

Whether you agree with what he did or not, the provision was there and he took advantage of it. He did nothing wrong and did everything within the rules. If you have an issue with the provision put the blame on the NHLPA and NHL BOG.
