People gave Kreider so much **** because he rooted for the Bruins in the Cup finals and were afraid he wasn't going to sign with the Rangers to become a free agent next August.
If Schultz pulled this stunt on the Rangers, what would the reaction be? It wouldn't be Schultz has a right to change his mind.
It's crazy to think how much of our offseason relies on Schultz signing. We're either gonna have a quiet offseason or land Schultz and get some other big pieces.

McDonagh was vilified too when he didn't sign immediately
Well I mean if he wants out, he can just ask for a trade and get the Ducks something in return.
But if he doesn't want to play there why would he sign a contract and hope the team will move him? He would risk being stuck there, and then be in an uncomfortable position. I'm not saying I agree with his decision, but this way he doesn't have to worry about getting traded to a place he would prefer to play.

So almost over at least so people can stop whining
lol man is it me or has everyone turned on this kid the last couple of days? Is it his fault the media has nothing better to do than make a circus out of this?
He's just talking to teams like every UFA does . Maybe its better he doesnt come to NY cause some will be way too hard on him. He's gonna get a max rookie contract which is no different than tons of others. Just look at this as a bonus first rounder pick
A couple of people suggested the NHL might try something as simple as changing "age 27 or seven years" to "age 27 and seven years." Or it might try to raise it closer to 31 years old.
Under the current CBA,Schultz becomes a group III after 6 years. He misses being a group III after 5 years. He was born 7/6. Turns 22. Arbitration eligible after two year ELC.
I still say Van is the favorite, they can give him everything we can and more minutes really. Their D is easier to crack. Plus its home. They make the most sense. We will be A- OK. Staal girardi mcdonagh del zotto, erixon will get a shot. Maybe sauer. Stralman's agent said he wants to stay in nhl if possible so we are ok either way. Also, I doubt we trade MDZ for scoring either way..
Josh Rimer has a podcast. Jake Gardiner was a guest just now. You can tell from his voice that he has no idea what Schultz is thinking. Schultz hasn't said anything to him.
He is in the mold of Brian Rafalski. He could very well turn out to be that type of player(consistent 40-50 pt guy and PPQB).
As far as Leetch, that is absolutely insane. Kid isn't even same mold for the comparison.
I'd say he's got a better shot than Rafalski, but isn't quite as creative.
As for Leetch, I agree. Sadly, when you read certain reactions around the sport, there are people who are probably putting those kind of unrealistic expectations on this kid.
