..and then he singlehandedly lost us the cup.
And we probably would have made the playoffs regardless of who was in net.
I don't think so leighton was as hot as hot can be before the finals where he looked average for the most part, he was spectacular against the Hans especially witch is why it only took 5 games, I still like Johnson as a backup, looked crappy against us but he's a decent backup IMO
I wouldn't mind having Leighton as a back up because Bryz will post AT LEAST 30 shutouts this season and only not start 3-4 games....
Leighton is someone who did play above his contract when we first got him off waivers. He didn't command a stanley cup winning salary and accordingly, didn't play like a goalie who does, but he did play better than expected. However he is wayy overpaid for his current salary and I can only guess, still not starter material and I seriously doubt even a quality backup. When we made it to the cup he was just having a "great" year, none of his stats would show it likely he could play even that well again.

The Flyers dominated the Habs, Leighton was just along for the ride. He made maybe 1 or 2 memorable saves that whole series. One was a glove save, but off a shot from the point wasn't it?
My windshield wiper got my car through a gruelling 1500-km drive, with long stretches of steep climbs, a couple of hairpin turns, stop-and-start in downtown traffic and the occasional brief rain.
If he wasn't a fit in Pittsburgh , what makes you think he's a fit here? On my list he's just above Leighton.
Not to mention that there are more FA goalies than there really are spots for them, so for goalies, unless you need a starter.... it's a pretty strong buyers market.
That made me laugh. Luckily, it's only to back up Yuri Gagarin, not to vie for first-stringer. Lots of time, and having Luongo (for one) potentially in play may have a domino effect. For example, if Luongo goes to Tampa Bay, maybe Garon becomes available. No pressure at this moment.
