The top UFA's (the very top) always seem to either sign right away (which doesn't happen too often unless they sign prior to UFA with their original teams) or take awhile.

Suter, Parise, and a couple of others will take awhile, the rest will do their work asap.

Offers are ready and waiting for 12est, give it a little bit and away you go.

Most of the rumors going around have Parise staying in NJ and Suter going to Detroit but rumors are rumors.

There are still a few very good UFA's out there to watch for and I still think it will be an interesting bit of time, even for us after a little bit.

This is the first year the Kings don't need the big fish. Its for this reason I think they will land one.

I think we may actually get Zach Parise as wild as that sounds, but he's got fellow Team USA guys here, he wants to WIN a cup, and he want's to be the GO TO GUY ... he disliked being in Kovi's shadow in NJ ... and while LA has some GREAT TALENT, he'd actually be the GO TO OFFENSIVE GUY playing on Kopitar's Wing.

We sign Parise at $6-7 Mil cap hit over 8 years, then sign Penner on the Cheap, trade Bernier with Brad Richardson and Hickey for a top end prospect and #1 pick next year and cheap vet Back-up goalie at some point and are done !

BROWN / KOPITAR / PARISE
GAGNE / RICHARDS / CARTER
PENNER / STOLL / WILLIAMS
KING / FRASER / LEWIS
X - Nolan, Westgarth, Clifford

SCUDERI / DOUGHTY
MITCHELL / VOYNOV
MARTENIZ / GREENE

QUICK
JONES ? UFA vet ?

Back to Back Cups here we come baby !

j/k btw ... we get NOTHING and like it

Sign Suter, trade Scuds. Thanks for your services Mr. Scuderi, but it's time to move on.

Suter is probably DL's dream move. Great 2 way defenseman that could be paired with Doughty forever and eat a boatload of minutes, and would spark our PP. Wouldn't be a better pairing in the league and he wants to play in the West. If Dean's going to make a splash, it would be him.

I'm thinking he'll go to Detroit, but an offer from us has to be taken seriously by him now.

We've got two legit 1st line Centers, a franchise dman, a franchise goaltender, a legitimate defensive core, a great captain...all signed to long term deals and quite young.

All we need is a 1st line winger, which is why Lombardi will probably go harder for Parise than Suter.

He did it last year when he pursued Brad Richards a week after acquiring Mike Richards. Also tried to make a big splash his first summer as Kings GM when he made a big pitch to sign Zdeno Chara. Wouldn't shock me if he did attempt to sign one of the top names.

Even when Lombardi makes small signings they usually come as surprise. Nobody saw the Scuderi or Handzus signings coming. Same can be said with just about every UFA he's signed since he's been here.

bland mentioned that idea somewhere, packaging Scuds and Bernier if we land Suter. Probably the best move we could make for the team moving forward.

I fear that there are teams that will be willing to pay Suter upwards of $7M per year. If Suter's AAV is going to be at minimum $7M, then the Kings should just stay away. He would be a nice upgrade to the blueline, but not at the cost of potentially losing some of the players down the road. If they worked out a long term deal for Suter at a decent cap hit like the Duncan Keith or Brent Seabrook contracts, sure, but he's going to cost a lot more as a UFA, along the lines of what Brian Campbell got as a UFA.

Its funny to read the trade Scuds comments when I and another poster talked about it as a possibility during the offseason it wasn't received too well.

He is a very solid defencemen who does his job very well but we are overloaded with D depth and if we could land a player like Suter then he could be a possible move for sure.

Not to high on Suter. Would much prefer Weber next year.

But DL does have ties with Suter. DL and Gary Suter were close at the end of his career in SJ. He was the Sharks "Willie Mitchell". Mentioned this a few years back at a season seat holders meeting. Then the next day he signed Calder, Handzus, Tom Priessing ect..ect...

P.S... Why is everyone turning on Scuderi? He has been rock solid for us since he got here. And I haven't seen a deterioration in his game.

I mentioned it on the trade board a few weeks ago and it wasn't received kindly.

I don't think we should expect anything earth shattering, if anything at all. Lombardi is more than content on bringing back every player of the Cup winning team and not disrupting that chemistry.

Yeah I remember that now too. Glad I stayed mum, as I was impartial at the time, and one does warm to the proposal as you think about it more.

Ziggy's point about the dangers associated with the cost is bang on, but I'd assume we would sort Suter out first anyways, and it were feasible, then terrific.

Suter claims that he wants to stay in the West, but I could see teams like Toronto, Pittsburgh and Philly throwing absolutely ridiculous offers at him. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I hope he resigns in Nashville.

In other news, the Flames have resigned Lee Stempniak and I can't help but laugh. They're doing a great job of hoarding mediocre players. They now have the 3rd highest payroll in the league.

If you get a player like Parise or Suter you make room for him on the team trading Scuds or Greene to make room for Suter you do it. Scuds is better and will get a better return. And if we get Parise you don't sign Penner and keep Gange on the 3rd or 4th line keep the 1st line intact and had Parise with Richards and Carter

You don't keep Scuderi and trade Greene with Suter coming in. Greene is our main physical defenseman and Suter plays defense closer to the way Scuderi does.

And to whoever said Brodeur to Vancouver, that's crazy talk. They have Schneider signed for alot of money and they have Eddie Lack to back up after a huge AHL year or get a lower paid vet. Not a 5 million dollar guy again.

DL can never hook the big fish. If he can't land Suter, Parise, Semin, and Jagr then he needs to be fired.

We've got a great thing going here, players signed on the *cheap* in order to remain competitive for a VERY long time as a core; why would we throw a crazy offer for any of those players? Especially Semin and Jagr?
