Great to see this done. Biron will work with Allaire and fix some of the holes.

@HLundqvist30 Congrats @martybiron43 on your new deal! Looking forward to keep working together as we push each other to the next level...See you in Sep!

If Hank feels like Marty pushes him, that has value.

It's a point that can't be undersold.

See: Luongo/Schneider.

Forgive me for my ignorance. I'm from Australia and still learning the game even though I've been watching it for around 2 seasons now.
But does Biron play AHL games to get match practice? Or is he strictly just a back up and only plays games when Lundqvist rests?
Great to see him sign though!

Plays only when Lundqvist rests.

With that said, he's one of the better backups in the game and I like the re-signing.

Everyone has been new at this at some point, nothing to forgive in that sense

Biron is Hank's backup, which means that he stays with the Rangers throughout the year. For Biron to play in the AHL, he would have to be sent down from the Rangers (which needs two goalies on their roster in case of injury, and also to alternate between to allow some rest for the number 1)

Cheers mate!
Damn, 1.3mil a year to essentially sit on the bench for most of the season. That'd be an awesome job! haha
Dying for next season to start already!

TBH I was hoping we wouldn't resign him. He played like **** for a majority of the year.

He had a pretty rough end to his season. However, for the majority of the season, he was very solid. Good to see him back.

He was 12-6-2. That's not bad at all, in fact, that's quite good for a backup. From the beginning of the season until early February he was 10-3-1. He wasn't that good to finish the year (2-3-1), yes, but he was hardly ****** for the majority of the year.

Oh ok, thanks. Yeah, was wondering more so in regards to match "fitness". Kinda sucks for a back up to just jump into a game without much match play.
Forgot about players having to be sent down. Works differently to sports here. hehe

Well, last year's late season struggles aside, there aren't many better for the role or the price. Especially when it's not really an open competition, we have one of the best starters in the league.

Biron is what he is. There's no expectation for him to carry the team, there's no goalie controvery, or expectation to get his icetime so he can progress. He's just a solid, veteran backup who gives Lundqvist enough support to help make him be the best he can be.

You don't feel comfortable with Biron as backup goalie but yet he is good for 15-18 games? What else do you want from a backup goalie, 30 games?

This is a great quote -- it says a lot about Hank's character.

Glad to see Biron back in blue.

Very relieved he signed before July 1st. Was fearing some desperate team would overpay for him.
