Flames to go hard after Doan/Semin/Jagr

Flames roster is pretty much set (just the need for one more top-six forward), however there is speculation Feaster might still be after a gritty bottom-six winger, plus maybe even a backup goaltender.

Quote:
Who will be on the Flames’ shopping list on July 1?

Feaster figures to be after top names, gritty role players and even a backup goalie

Flames roster heading into July 1:

Tanguay Cammalleri Iginla
Glencross Cervenka UFA
Baertschi Backlund Stempniak
Comeau Jones Jackman

Bouwmeester Wideman
Giordano Butler
Smith/Brodie Sarich

Kiprusoff
Irving

TRADE BAIT: Stajan, Babchuk, Karlsson.

Prediction: Calgary signs Jaromir Jagr to play with countryman Roman Cervenka and brings back agitator Brandon Prust to play on the 4th line.

I would want Jagr and Prust/Tootoo. No backup goalie please.

Whose spot does Prust/Tootoo take though? Comeau was just re-signed for $1.25 million, Jones was pretty effective after being acquired from Tampa Bay last season, and Jackman provides plenty of grit as a 4th liner. Plus we also have Nemisz/Aliu/Bouma in the pipeline.

Personally, I'll be happy just to add a top-six forward.

Even with the KHL connection I would guess this is probably very unlikely.....unless Feaster gives Jagr a fat payday.......would be interesting to see what they could do. Would give Calgary a legitimate 2nd line if Cervenka could make the transition without too much of an adjustment time.

And a pretty solid 3rd line (Baertschi - Backlund - Stempniak).

Rebuild my @$$!

Jagr wants to win a Cup. Calgary doesn't give him that chance.

Doan will only leave Phoenix to go win a Cup somewhere, and probably not even for that.

Semin, maybe, if they hand him 7 million a year.

Why would Prust go back to Calgary for a third time? So that they can trade him for a third time?

The guy who traded him the previous two times (Sutter) is gone. Jagr is also very close friends with Cervenka, I'm sure he wouldn't mind mentoring him for 1-2 years before calling it a career. KHL - been there done that. If the KHL was still an option he would've been long gone.

Doesn't Jagr want a big payday? Or a chance to win?

Will the Flames be offering him a contract for ~5M or are they expecting Jagr to sign with a non-playoff team just because he's friends with Cervanka?

OTOH I can definitely see Doan signing in Calgary.

Doan, Jagr... yup, seem like Flames moves. When will this organization accept that they need to rebuild?

He's also friends with Hemsky and Plekanec. Has he played for Edmonton and Montreal? No.

Never, and neither will their fanbase if they keep drinking Feaster kool-aid.

That might just be enough to nudge you far enough to get beat in the first round. Congrats Calgary

Highly doubt Jagr considers it...unless they throw an absurd number at him...

Take a look at the OP, the Flames are one top-six forward away from icing 3 scoring lines!

Yo this seems like a good thread to bash the Flames. How dare they sign UFAs.

Yes, we should be in awe of the potentially great forward corps of the Calgary Flames, because they always come through....oh, right.

Look at the Phoenix Coyotes team, everyone predicted they would be bottoms of the conference. They made the WCF.

and what a surprise, a Flames thread turns into the same crap.

I hope they fail to land these pieces. and I hope they fail to make the playoffs, not because I dislike them, but I want Iginla to become a Penguin at the deadline. makes all the sense in the world.

Why exactly is that funny? Those players are all UFAs? Not like we're going to trade those players for them.

The trade bait options are terrible.

Definately could see Doan signing there and some depth players. Maybe Prust. WOuldnt be shocked to see the Flames sign Tootoo either.
