Devils Financial Situation

We've read the articles and have seen nothing new for a couple of weeks.

It appears a budget has been set

Quote:
Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice
Devils have a budget for next season and that is impacted by finances. Where Parise's contract fits -or if he leaves - will impact that.
It appears this budget will not affect our ability (or want) to sign Parise AND Brodeur

Quote:
Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice
My understanding is there will be room for both Parise and Brodeur in Devils' budget, but Parise is first piece of the puzzle.
So continue speculating here.

"Could be over" has turned into "Could Brodeur and Parise both be gone?"

I'd rather not

When did it say the budget will not affect the ability to sign them?

Chere speculated that the Devils' financial situation was preventing them from making an offer to Brodeur.

In three days hopefully, if Zach and Marty are back in the fold. Otherwise, HF blowup incoming.

Never. Until the Devils are spending at the cap, and have no good players within 365 days of free agency for multiple years in a row, the answer is never. They could be completely secure financially somewhere down the line, but if any of the above happens, it will never end.

We need some good material to laugh at. Like the article saying Parise, and Suter were coming to the same team in a package deal like Lebron, and his NBA buddies to the Heat.

Maybe something new will pop up like the financial situation is so bad Patty is going somewhere to play on a Czech line with Sykie, and Jagr somewhere else to free up money from his contract!

Patty is already getting sent to CIM in Chino for stealing the puck. He will serve his time for as long as it takes the Kings to win another Cup!

This whole financial situation sucks. After the great season we had this is some turmoil. It's like getting married, and your wife tells you on your honeymoon she's not coming home with you!

Everything is "Status Quo" I guess...

Honestly, as a fan of the Devils for 20+ years, whatever mess they are in is a result of the team's poor marketing.

When you have no player pushed merchandise, no 3rd jersey, no cost-effective ticket plans, etc., this is what you end up with at contract time. Just the lack of having additional player merchandise & the 3rd jersey not available for sale is costing them millions a year.

Furthermore, if Marty is looking to make $3M or more a year, he needs his head examined. He should be at $2M & splitting the games in half while training in rotation Kinkaid & Wedgwood for our future.

Its obvious that money and another cup is what he truly wants & doesn't feel this team has the nuts to get it done.

Chere is just soooo full of it ...
One thing should be noted also - only way to attract money (be it investors or new fans) is by icing an competitive and even exciting team (thus we got Kovy). Who would be willing to unload money for team that just got ... well in short worse in many ways ?
Gotta give money to make money ...

No amount of marketing or merchandise sales is going to wipe out $80 M in arena debt. The situation the Devils are in is entirely because of the move to Newark. It was an overreach, and here we are.

Bill Watters was on Nhl home ice yesterday and said "Parise is going to the Kings. The Devils do not have the money to sign him or Brodeur. They just don't have it, no way no how."

And who exactly is Bill Watters? I still fail to see how the Kings are giving Zach big money now when they wouldn't give Kovy big money two years ago before they had lucrative contracts on their books.

If the Devils are forced to lose Zach and Marty because of finances then I hope JVB loses his shirt completely and is a panhandler in five years.
