That shot he took at him was completely unprofessional as it has nothing to do with anything.

Whoever signs a college free agent that chose not to sign should have to forfeit a compensatory pick to the team that originally drafted the player.
Don't the Ducks already get a comp pick for being unable to sign Schultz (like the Rangers got with Cherepanov)?

No, because Schultz was a second round pick. If he was a 1st rounder they would've received compensation.

My guy tells me that players who don't sign with the team that drafted them should go back into the draft. I think they do that in baseball. Or, if they're granted free agency, the drafting team should get compensation, but not from the signing team. That's not really fair. Its also possible the drafting team could lowball the player, its not always the player wanting to 'take his talents' elsewhere. But, I totally agree that this loophole needs to be closed somehow.

What does Buccigross know? He had Staal playing in the Winter Classic. Buccigross has good contacts in NCAA hockey. He knows all of the players.
Just hype imo

I have been fairly irritated by this whole process but I blame myself. If a decision is rendered today, I'd say Schultz handled things in a very orderly and timely manner.
I do think the CBA loophole is very unfair to Anaheim and needs to be closed. And I will reserve any other judgment til after 'the decision'.
I'd be pretty impressed if Schultz ends up dumping Anaheim for a team like Winnipeg or Minnesota.
Thatd be kinda funny and cool.

He better keep his head up in his first Anaheim game no matter where he signs. They are pissed from the top down there and would be dying to welcome him to the NHL. The anger wouldn't be nearly as bad if it weren't for this sideshow.

Yep. All this could have been avoided if he picked a specific team he wanted to sign with.
He had PLENTY of time to think about where he wanted to go.

Based on their situation, the Oilers wouldn't surprise me in the least.

John Buccigross @Buccigross 19m
Could be some big NHL news today. Stay tuned NY Rangers fans.

Don't know if it pertains to Schultz, but if its Ott and Edm, then he's going to play for some bottom feeder organizations. Travel, weather, amenities aren't exactly the best out there.

What is Buccigross tweeting about? He does the NCAA selection show and broadcasts the NCAA tournament games for ESPN. Part of his new contract is he is the voice of Frozen 4 starting next season.

If he is picking Edmonton ... it's certainly not to become a contender. No offense but they are not making the playoffs in the next year or so.

Strong reason to believe that Rick Nash trade talk, on the eve of NHL Free agency, is beginning to warm up considerably. Will advise

He probably sees Edmonton as a situation where he can eventually be a top pairing d-man. Here, that will never happen so long as we have Girardi.

I feel like Zipay is disconnected enough to just be saying that he'll decide today. He probably doesn't know anything Strickland doesn't.
