The real problem is how Schultz let his agent handle this. It's one thing when it's a vet UFA like Richards, it's another when it's a guy who hasn't played in the NHL yet.
But this is his agents doing, this is the first time Schultz has ever had to deal with contract stuff or anything. I'm not saying he's shown good judgement here but in the end he's following what his agent told him to do, and his agent likes putting on these shows apparently
players hire agents to do whats best for him...if anything him being young and inexperienced should be an excuse for letting an agent lead him down a bad path. a veteran like richards would know better...
but i still think that the fans and media are making this a billion times bigger than schultz and his agent cause there is nothing else to talk about till free agency opens
obviously duck fans have reason to be pissed at him...but what exactly has he done that to make it such a big deal? once he decided he was going to be a ufa, he told teams to come talk to him and then has spent a few days mulling over the decision while fans and media speculate every 3 seconds about what is going on. schultz hasn't made any comments or done anything...is it his fault that tsn had camera crews outside waiting to see what teams showed up?
the #1 villian in the whole thing in terms of making everyone sick of it is twitter lol
Let's sign him and trade him for Nash or Ryan. That'd teach him to use a loophole for sure.
Disclaimer: I don't really want Nash.
That would obviously never happen, but that would be the funniest hockey related situation I've ever witnessed. I'd be on the floor laughing. I'd fly to Anaheim and by Bobby Ryan a drink just so we could laugh about it together.
Don't you think it makes absolutely no sense to speculate which teams are in and out. One person can tweet these teams are in and another person tweets different teams are in so we just spin it to makeut sound like we're still in. Nobodoy knows whose in and out and it's better to just ignore the speculation.
Just wait for him to make his decision. Until he announces his team were still in.
There is never a shortage of rumors on days like today and we have two of them. We have confirmed that Wisconsin defenseman Justin Schultz has chosen to join the New York Rangers. There were 25 confirmed teams interested in him but he only chose to meet with 5 (NYR, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa).
With the news that the Rangers have won the Schultz sweepstakes, we have our 2nd rumor (this one unconfirmed), The Rangers will ship out Michael Del Zotto and Brandon Dubinsky to Columbus for superstar and face of the Columbus franchise Rick Nash.
With the Schultz decision, Michael Del Zotto is seen as a movable asset, especially for Nash, who will be looked at to carry the Rangers offense to the next level as they try to take that next step.
But why are tou following along, according to you he's going to Vancouver.
I believe the exact terminology was "bank on it."
I'd rather bank in it.
