Big question - Does Parise or Suter even sign tomorrow?

I'd say Parise, yes. Suter no. Honestly, that's great for us. If it's out there already that Suter won't sign until Monday, Shero can completely focus on Parise. If Shero gets Parise signed...Suter can see what he's dealing with here, and if RS offers him a contract on Monday, I can't see him turning it down if it's in the ballpark of what other teams are offering.

RealKyper: Much like #Rangers Richards last July, #Devils Parise will be in Toronto huddled with Newport Sports awaiting #NHL teams to present offers

My predicted Shero/Parise conversation will take place afterall.

I'm almost 100% sure of it. The teams that will be in on those two already know it, and I'm sure Suter and Parise are going to be getting A LOT of very good offers tomorrow. There's really no reason to wait.

And if they don't... do we wait on either one or move on to other options?

Parise will and Suter won't. Were people really nervous Shero wouldn't even talk with Parise tomorrow? He could be on an international space station and Shero would find a way to speak with him.

I think the Parise deal is already in the bag. I'm 99% the Pens will sign him tomorrow due to the fact that Sidney Crosby didn't take a pay raise. This will ensure Malkin not asking for more and will definitely leave space for Parise to sign long-term.

But then again, I'm speculating.

Colbys spirit is there, but his body isn't.

Yah that's seeing too much of a connection there. What Crosby did, it probably has something to do with Parise because that's who happens to be available, but more than likely he would have agreed to the same cap hit regardless, because he wants Shero to have more room to maneuver and get one or two more great players over the next year. It's not like if Parise weren't available and a few other good FA (with no connection to Crosby) were available, that he would have demanded a cap hit $2M higher... this is just who Crosby is. It's not about tactics.

I'd sign colby for under a mil. There's no doubt in my mind the man would give us EVERYTHING he has, even if it's only for 20 games.

Signing Armstrong before August (as a last resort) would be nuts, given all the other players out there we might sign. You don't take up even $700K of roster space for a guy like that until you know every other roster spot and option is wrapped up. We got nothing but time WRT to Armstrong. He'll be available whenever we need him, most likely.

Meh, whenever it is. Colby is one of my all time favorites. So I'll ride the homerness forever.

Hard to say a guy who isn't even 30 is licked, but I think he may be.

Anyone else see that Christensen signed in the KHL?

This is the exact reason why Parise won't sign a deal tomorrow IMO. He is gonna get offers from a few teams and will no doubt want to take a bit of time to think them over. Probably the only major contract he will ever sign if its a long term deal.

Suter on the other hand doesn't seem to be setting up for major meetings with different teams like Parise is. This leads me to believe everything will be done over the phone with him and he could very well sign tomorrow.

Not sure if I'm alone on this but I was pretty happy to see Colby get bought out in Toronto. I think the Pens will take a run at getting him on a cple year deal for fairly cheap. He was super popular with the Pens and one of Sids best friends.

No way I'd give Armstrong a couple years. He hasn't earned that.

Would you sign him at the expense of say signing Sully or Asham (or do we not even sign them)?? I would think about it and at least compare the costs involved for each.

Sullivan just put up a 48 point season. In the last 3 seasons, Armstrong has put up just over 50 points. I sign Sullivan 10 times out of 10 in that situation.

Crosby 2005: So tell me something about my wing situation

Patrick 2005: No problem kid, we got you covered. Didn't you see we signed Zigmund Palffy. That was all for you big boy.

Crosby 2006: Gratz on the hire Mr. Shero Sir. So, I know you are getting settled and all, but tell me something about my wing situation

Shero 2006: I have you at the top of my list. Remember the name Michel Ouellet. He is going to be a big star. Tons of untapped potential.

Crosby 2007: So about my wing situation . . .

Shero 2007: Colby Armstrong is your good buddy, right?

Crosby 2008: So back to that wing situation . . .

Shero 2008: What do you think when I say Pascal Dupuis?

Crosby 2009: Umm, wing?

Shero 2009: What you didn't like Pascal Dupuis? He looks like a puppy dog. Who doesn't like puppies?

Crosby 2010: Christ already, you found a ****ing wing for Geno?

Shero 2010: Well you were hurt and all.

Crosby 2011: God damn it, a 40 goal scorer for Geno and you can not find anything for me?

Shero 2010: They call him Super Duper, did you know that?

Crosby 2012: **** it, I will do it myself.

Parise: Hey Sid, what's up?

Love the Niskanen signing. He got a little more than I expected though. I was really hoping to have the cap hit at 2mil. There was talks that the term was right but Shero and his agent were discussing value. My guess is Shero wanted 2ish and the agent wanted 2.5-2.75...good middle ground.

So yeah, the Penguins won the Hossa trade. Barring the Daultan Leveille factor.
