Maybe on a different team but his role on Pittsburgh wouldn't be that big especially with Morrow and Despres maybe making another step or if Letang gets injured again and he gets PP time.

Great deal.

Niskanen is one of the major reasons Pens' fans (though not Shero, who was approached by has zero interest in moving him) wanted to look into trading Martin to save some cap space with a younger player. He came along that well, and really seems to be coming into his own with room to grow. Not bad for a cap dump addin.

why did Dallas just throw him into the Neal, Goligoski deal anyway? That was bad enough

btw Wideman is way better than Niskanen offensively

because he completely lost his game in Dallas, thankfully for him the Pens have managed to rehab him to be a #5 dmen who is solid in his own end and can provide some offence on the bottom pairing.

Good deal! Now they can continue talking with Sid for sparring him to become a better fighter.

Because he was costing them $1.5 million while playing awful hockey.

It still surprises me that they couldn't flip him for something decent separately, but he's been a far better player in Pittsburgh than he was the last season + in Dallas.

Not bad for a "throw in" in the Neal/Goligoski deal.

Niskanen quotes from twitter:

Quote:
Niskanen: "I'm not happy to be in Pittsburgh. I'm super happy."

Nope, that would be Sather.

OT, good for Niskanen, and a good signing for the Penguins.

Good deal. Nisky was arguably the most consistent Dman for the Pens last season (next to Engelland).

great contract for the pens. Nisky has been really good for them. Hopefully now that he's signed Martins ass gets kicked to the curb.
