I don't want Armstrong back, but he was bought out by the Leafs because they signed him to a spastic cap hit and now open some room by getting rid of him.

When healthy, they liked him a lot.

lol by this time tomorrow, we'll all be *****ing about the Doans and Whitneys not signing here, while Ray personally flies to Toronto with a Tom's Diner Gyro, a Primanti's, and a case of yinger to convince Parise to sign. Then he'll ultimately go to Detroit, just after Semin, then followed by Suter, in which case we sign Sykora and Asham.

I'll pass on Asham. For a supposed gritty player he's kind of a floater. Doesn't skate too well. Wasn't impressed with him last year at all.

Let me simplify this: any value Armstrong might bring to the 4th line or as a 13th, Parros would bring more value, albeit a different kind. Asham would also bring more value. Tangradi would bring more value. ... shall I go on?

The Tennesseean recently reported that Nashville is interested in Martin. I can confirm that Nashville isn't on Martin's no-trade list.

@JoshYohe_Trib if wild's interested in martin tho, no way they trade for him "now" and help PIT sign Parise. Later maybe

@Russostrib Very good point. That wouldn't be wise for Minny

That's fair. Can we agree that everyone on that list has more value than Adams?

That's a fair argument (his hit was Full Rossi), but you'd think if injuries was their only concern, they'd at least wait until FA is over, see what they have, and then if they need to cut his salary, cut it going into the season. Teams can go 10% over going into the season. That way if they're not over by much, they could keep him, cut someone less valuable loose and have a good player on their team / adding to their depth. I think they believe his best days are behind him and that's why they cut him loose. Whether that's due to the specific nature of the injuries or not, I have no idea.

In fairness to Colby he did have some good seasons in ATL and Parros is never scoring 20G but there's just no reason at all to think about it until the big FA days are over and our roster is more or less settled and we might need a depth guy / 13th type on the cheap.

Has anyone besides Rossi reported that the Pens are unwilling to frontload? Because if so it seems like that could be a deal breaker on Parise/Suter.

Unless its a retirement contract, I doubt its such a huge deal. The key to those is retiring and only skipping out on the very low tail end. If you plan to play the deal out, I don't think it would be as big of a deal.

No, because unlike Rossi, they DO let the lack of credible information from the team, stop them from making assumptions and reporting it as if it's news.

Yeah. Although, thinking about it, I think Shero himself might have said it at one point.

Cool. I was waiting for some made up news from my favorite made up Pittsburgh sports journalist. My day is now complete.

The Pens LITERALLY just front loaded Crosby's deal. Why in god's name would they not do it for Parise?

@JoshYohe_Trib

I'm expecting Pens to offer Parise something in neighborhood of 10 years, $75-80 million.

Maybe Parise wouldn't be as afraid of being strucken down with a career ending injury as quickly as the Crosby camp?

Maybe they don't want to bleed out EVERYTHING up front with ALL of their players?

Maybe concerns that the upcoming CBA will put a limit on how much of your total contracts you can front load and stay cap compliant?

Probably countless possibilities, but doing it for one player does not guarantee you'll do it for another.

all ivy-league fourth line - cause we know those schools are known for their grittiness:

George Parros-Craig Adams-Tanner Glass
