Hmmm...The Blues fought through their injuries the last 2 years and still were competitive...And they play in a better division.

1) much better team no arguing that
2) http://www.sabresinseven.com/2011/12...1-2012-season/ Almost 100 less man games lost, and didn't need a whl player.

You praise Desharnais in the habs forum but to make a point here, "yah he's not a number 1 center LOL"

Andrew Ference is a stud.

Flames wouldn't have been swept by the kings, just saying.

Hope Doan signs with Vancouver.

He'd be a great mentor for Zack Kassian

No way to prove that. The only thing that can be said for sure is that Calgary wasn't good enough to be in the discussion as they missed the playoffs.

Good for them if they can sign one of those players, but I just don't see it significantly altering the downward trajectory of the franchise.

And this is why I no longer take most people's word for anything around here anymore.

Adding another top 6 forward won't help the team/make the team better..... Hfboards logic at its finest.

Don't mean to call out one guy, but it's a little frustrating listening to everyone harp on the flames becaus we refuse to tank. Not many people respect the oilers anymore. It's been a pathetic strategy that MAYBE will work. I'm glad the flames continue to try to compete. It may be a slow process but the team is getting younger, making significant changes, and still competing. I'm ok with that as a lifelong flames fan and hav faith in feaster and Weissbrough especially. Soon enough all the haters will eat their words.

Would be completely shocked if they landed any of those three players.

Flames couldn't have been swept because they were lost in mediocrity yet again.

As would I the only one I can remotely see happening is Jagr if he really wants to play with Cervenka.

I don't want Calgary to tank; I hate what the Oilers are doing, and it's going to be so annoying when their fans are rubbing their ill-gotten success in our faces, a la Pittsburgh. And, of course adding a top 6 forward is going to improve the team. What I'm saying is that it won't address the underlying problems with the team, and adding another high-salary, high-risk contract (either due to age or 'enigmaticness') is in real danger of adding to those problems.
