I think the same, but from a PR angle it would be off the charts for Montreal. In this scenario, Brodeur would probably be the first official backup to earn more than the starter.

Do you think New Jersey might trade for Bernier now?

Honestly Luongo would be good fit for them and is more proven

I could see them trading for Bernier even if Brodeur is there.

Quick little plug for something else I do to get my hockey fix. This league is very fun and can be as time consuming as you want it to be.

The Victory Hockey League (VHL) is a player simulation league where you are able to create a unique player of your own and compete with/against other members of the VHL (100% human).

You have a full career experience including drafts, minor leagues, trades, and free agency.

By doing weekly writing/graphics tasks or podcasts, you are able to build your player's attributes. In doing so, you can dictate what type of player you create (power forward, sniper, defensive defenseman etc.).

Quick Facts about the VHL:
We have been running for 28 seasons, or almost 5 real years
All players in the league are members who have created players. There are no CPU's.
There are 8 teams in the league, 4 playoff teams
We have unique logos for each team, designed by our members
We have a portal to keep track of statistics so you're records will never be lost

Join the Victory Hockey League today to get your career started!

I'm not sure if this is considered fantasy or should go in the video game thread, so mods, move it if needed please.

Not unexpected, but he would have been nice.

I'd have a big problem with it, since there are NHL goalies available. Signing an ahl goalie to cover for the human mental landmine named bryzgalov would be awful. Leighton isn't good. We might as well make Bacashiusghasgua the backup, same thing

No no no. I like this Leighton idea maybe the more we show interest the more Shero will want him. Then we can outscore the pens again all year!

I'm not really sure if I should make a new topic on this but do any of you have the NHL Center Ice package for tv? I was going to get it at the beginning of last season but I never ended up doing it. I might get it for this season. I think it would be worth it to me because I enjoy watching as much hockey as I can and it will give me my hockey fix especially on Flyers off days. I would get Gamecenter but my internet is atrocious with watching live video.

For about 18 months in a row, I had free Center Ice / Extra Innings through Comcast. I have no idea how, but basically, I picked up one of the services (I think Extra innings) on a promotional, cancelled it when the cheaper rate expired, and they never turned off the service.

I watched a ton of both baseball and hockey--but mostly Flyers and Phillies (which, in my Virginia exile, I wouldn't have gotten otherwise), but others as well.

A few points: 1) It isn't cheap--and the value probably depends on whether you get the Flyers locally, and how much out-of-market stuff you anticipate watching; 2) I never received any games in HD--though the listings said I should. This might have been a technical error, but since I was getting the service for free, I couldn't very well call. Others can vouch for this.

I get Comcast Sportsnet but Comcast Network so there are a few games each year that I don't get to see. I watch games on NBCSN and NHL Network but I feel like they show the same few teams a lot of the time and most western teams get no love. I'll wait to see what others say about the HD. If the games aren't in HD that might be a big turning point in my decision.

I find two things very interesting.

1) That, while Edmonton has a potential modern day dynasty of sorts on their hands with Yakupov, RNH, Eberle, Hall, and Schultz...what the hell are they going to do when they're all due for raises? I mean...if you thought a core of Crosby/Malkin/Staal/Fleury was hard to keep together then wait till a few seasons from now.

2. NJ might potentially lose both Brodeur and Parise this off-season and they probably will. Kind of up **** creek without a paddle there. I see them doing a lot worse next season.
