Jason Garrison...how is

his defensive game. i don't really recall much about him but looking at his size and climbing goal totals through the last 3 years he seems like a good option that won't or shouldn't break the bank. Am i wrong?

From what I gather he'll get at least 5 mil per.

He's getting paid this offseason. He's a decent defender.

He would be a great fall-back plan if Suter doesn't want to come here and Carle keeps getting pricier.

Edit: I see I wasn't the first one to get this idea

Decent. I think homer should sign him. He's very mobile for his size. While he isn't really physical he'll use his size. His shot would instantly make the PP more dangerous. Teams cannot zone all in on Giroux. They would have to respect Garrisons shot.

One year wonder. Most of his numbers were as a result of playing with Brian Campbell. Let someone else blow 5 million a year on him. The fascination with one year wonders absolutely amazes me.

So clicking on that link made me reaffirm my position that people on that site dont know what they are talking about. Read the comments about paying Carle 6-6.5 and being perfectly fine with it.

Even the writers on that site get on my nerves.

I'd rather have the Flyers submit a nice, fat offer sheet for Kulikov, and hope that the Panthers decide that keeping both is impractical for their budget, and that they'd prefer Garrison + the 1st and 3rd required by, say, a $4.25 AAV than keep Kulikov and let Garrison walk.

(My fantastical scenario would be made more likely if Florida acquire Luongo...)

They compared Carle to Chara, Lindstrom, etc etc. I swear. There's dumb things and then theres stuff BSH throws out there.

Comparing two things is not the same as saying that two things are similar.

Sorry, my wording was wrong. They were throwing stats out there saying how Carle is close to the level of Chara and Lindstrom (aka some of the best defenders in the past decade.)

I agree 5 mil is an overpayment but with Lavi's system, a top 3 offense and G/Kimmo setting him up on pp (that big shot from the point is something the flyers have been missing since pronger) I see no reason why he couldn't put up similar numbers here. And that's not to mention his play in his own zone, which is surely better then carle's. If you consider that garrison might actually cost a little less and that to upgrade on d at all the flyers will have to overpay I thinks it should at least be taken into consideration.
