Carle may want to play in Colorado just like Ryan wants to play in Philly. Whether the teams are interested is another matter entirely. Fans get too wrapped up in stuff like this but I'm not sure organizations do.

If you observe Colorado's currently signed d-men, you will see there is a gaping hole in the 2-3 spot. It is a logical progression to expect that, since they do not have someone in the organization ready to fill that role, Sherman/CO will at least consider signing an UFA of a similar caliber to Carle.

As a Blues fan I prefer going with Cole over signing Carle. The only positive that would come out of it is maybe the Stewart for our LH defenseman you don't want threads would die down.

I'd guess Colorado for 5 years/$25 million + NTC.

The thing that scares me about Carle is that he would almost certainly be the highest paid player on the Blues, and undeservedly so.

lol, anyway. As I've said since day 1, I'd be happy to see Carle back in orange but only for the right price. Some team is going to give him Wideman + money and he will go.

Someone else mentioned it but it will end up like the Leino situation. Love to have him but not for the money they're getting elsewhere.

I may be wrong on this (someone please tell me if I am), but I'm pretty sure tagging rules come off the table once the NHL and PA agree/announce the salary cap for the following season, no matter when it is. The Flyers, officially, for next season are only at $58.8M for a $77M off-season cap (or $70.2 temp cap). Unless the Flyers are giving Carle $12M AAV, there really isn't any reason why they can't announce a deal if it's done.
You can guaranty that the cap will either drop or stay the same after the new CBA.

Thankfully, I think the Wideman contract priced Carle out of the Flyers' range.

What if he's paired next to the best pmd in Ottawa?

lol seeing as how Pierre Maguire stated that there will be offers of 6M per, to get Carle at 5 million would be a steal.

Avs are still 14 million BELOW the cap floor with only 3 RFA's left to sign (EJ, O'Reilly, and McGinn).

His market value is EASILY 5 million in today's day and age with the 70 million cap.

Avs can throw 5 million dollars and still wouldn't be anywhere close to being in cap problems, so I don't see a problem one bit.

Don't see why he would go to EDM after Schultz decided he would. We now basically have our 6th spot open with Sutton/Potter/Peckham/Teubert/Fedun competing for it. And Sutton will at least be the 7th guy on his contract and being a team enforcer. The others can go through waivers

Smid - Petry
Schultz - Schultz
Whitney - ?????

And EDM won't pay him that much to be a third pairing guy.

Smid and Petry might be the worst non-expansion team top pairing in NHL history.

Well on your way to another 1st overall selection with that core.

Carle would instantly be the Oil's best defenseman. Is laughable you're even thinking about putting him on the 3rd pairing.

We certainly could use another upgrade on the blueline, i dont know exactly how good carle is, but we'd be much better off like this:

Carle-NS
Smid-Petry
Whitney-JS
Sutton

we certainly need to keep all the players you mentioned out of the top-6 if we want to compete for a playoff spot.

Don't count Tampa out, many expect Yzerman to take a run at Carle.

Watching an Oilers game some time might be a good idea before you decide to embarrass yourself.

You're right. I'm an Avs fan, I must never watch that Edmonton team in our division play.

And just what exactly did your boy EJ do to separate himself from a guy like Smid? Smid out hit him (186-123), blocked more shots (184-94), scored more goals and had a better plus/minus on a worse team playing in more of a shutdown role. But I guess EJ was a first overall pick, so he is automatically a top pairing defender.
