I see nothing wrong with the deal, but I had hoped they would of replaced him with someone that might win a fight here and there.

I would have let him walk, but this doesn't break the bank I guess. What I don't understand is the direction Howson is going. Maybe it will all come into focus tomorrow. Right now, I'm just not seeing the "vision" of how this club will even be competitive next season. Next season is being built on an improved defense, the hope for better goaltending (which with Mason here, I don't see how that is possible), no Nash and an absolute dearth of scoring. Again, the next couple of days could change things, but I'm not seeing much hope.

For $1 million we could have had the pride of Washington, PA, George Parros. Better fighter and great community-oriented player.
Now we have extended a player who is not particularly bruising (outside of sropping the gloves) has no offense and isn't exactly a defensive standout for 2 years. Pointless signing.
Hmm yeah... seems like some weird loyalty thing to me. But oh well, it's Howson... I'm okay with it since he didn't sign him for 5 years at 2 million per year
That's way overpayment considering he could be replaced by a player with a 2-way contract with more upside. Boll has had his chance and showed zero offensive potential. There are plenty of AHLers who can be a punching bag. Boll is a waste of a roster spot.
I thought Boll's performance was pretty poor last season.
So, Howson signing him for two years makes perfect sense in the Alice in Wonderland world of GMSH. I mean, it's not like Boll wouldn't have taken a one year deal.
Howson is simply ridiculous.

I don't really know how I feel about this one. Thought perhaps his time had come and gone, but neither dollars or term are terrible. May be his lockeroom presense has some value. Can function as 13th forward/4th liner as required. Russell can log time help out in SPR.

Agree. Howson doesn't want to do anything beyond dipping toes in the FA market, apparently, but he will sign this deal? I like Boll's passion and energy, but is that worth it? Guys that would be better suited to the role on the market and Howson does this..... Its not a backbreaker by any stretch of means, but it is poor roster management, IMO.

Apparently, the "Reshape" is completely contingent about a Nash trade....
Which, ironically, would not be happening if a rebuild/reshape/rewhatever hadn't been announced. Getting rid of Carter for JMFJ and a 1 was smart;from then on, not so much.

Its almost enough to make one wonder exactly what the organization said to Nash after the January 16th ownership meeting when the "reshape" was probably first devised....
Was it initially going to be a full rebuild and was changed to a "reshape" when the Nash asked for a trade?
