With the acquisition of Rebeiro, I would now welcome the Marcus Johannson + 1st for Marleau offer that was talked about before. Caps could use a goal scorer on the wing, now that they've gotten a second line Center.
Nice try, Johannson + 1st was for Pavelski. We want a lot more if Marleau is being traded.
First off the article proves nothing. Second, I don't want to trade him, he is our fastest player and the Sharks are painfully slow even with him. If he is traded, the trade MUST replace Patty's speed and offence. Keep that in mind with your offers.
Sorry, but how is losing 30 goal scorer and getting another younger one who does it with lesser team mates not an improvement?
Marleau's 30+ goals + a bottom 6 forward to boost forward depth > Nash's 30+ goals and praying that he and Jumbo mesh. Also Marleau (like Jumbo to an extent) is more likely to become much cheaper to keep in SJ in two years once his contract is up.
How are there 90 replies to this thread already and the vast majority buying into the notion that SJ is trying to get rid ... and for cap space of all issues.
Marian Gaborik, Daniel Sedin, Phil Kessel, Ilya Kovalchuk, Jarome Iginla, Rick Nash, John Tavare, Marian Hossa, Thomas Vanek etc - Marleau has more goals in his last 3 seasons than all of these guys. The notion that a team would want to 'dump' him for salary cap reasons is as absurd as the idea that some of you would actually believe that trash in the first place.
Look, I was as narked as any Sharks fan about Patrick's disappearance in the playoffs this past year but if you look at his career, actually Marleau has been pretty good in the playoffs, although obviously streaky. If you don't believe me, go and look at the all GWGs he has. (20th all time).
The truth is, Doug Wilson knows that last year was not the kind of year that will buy him time at the helm - he's not rebuilding anything. And he certainly isn't dumping his most prolific forward for cap space.
Wise up people. This is base journalism at its finest - find a guy who got some stick for his playoffs on an underperforming team and fill some print column with it. Clicking that link just makes it worth their while to produce more garbage than that.
If teams around the league don't want Marleau, good. That's their loss. But if he gets dealt it's because HE wants to (NMC!) go and it won't be for scraps.

Wow... some of these offers for Marleau are downright terrible. At least TRY to consider both sides needs. Moot point since Marleau is never gonna get traded and trading him is counter productive.
