So who is the bottom 6 sandpaper guy that Shero will sign this offseason (and we all know he will).
Doesn't Prust seem to be the most likely? I'm not sure I'd like to give him $2m a season but we'll definitely have the cap room (I'm assuming that we don't sign both Parise and Suter). But we could use his toughness and if I'm not mistaken he's a penalty killer which is never a bad thing to have a surplus of.
If I had a choice though I'd prefer Jordin Tootoo. He produces more points and he fills our 'Jordan/Jordin' void that we have after trading Staal whereas Prust would just be a redundant Brandon
Actually Tootoo seems to miss a lot of games due to injury. I'll put my hopes in signing Prust after adding Parise and Allen or Kuba tomorrow
I'll be just as excited as anyone if we sign Parise, but I have a feeling by this time next year, we'll all be talking about how we "NEED" to sign Shea Weber because we can't rely on such an inexperienced bunch of blueliners to pin our Cup hopes on.
IMHO, Letang and Goligoski had a better group of veteran guys here to ease them into the prominent roles they now have. I just don't see that here with this current group of veterans.
Maybe the best route is to sign Suter. Those kids coming up could learn a ton from him and Letang could too. They'd get sheltered minutes playing behind Letang-Suter and the option is still there to trade one or two of those prospects for a winger on an ELC.
In other words, I'd be happy with either Parise or Suter.
