i was an oiler fan at 5, Detroit fan at 6, Tampa bay fan at 7 (cause i got thunder bay and Tampa bay mixed up), then Washington fan at 8 (brendan witt was may favorite player) then saw kipper play and realized banff's closer to Calgary and the 04 run helped and i loved the jersey sooo i choose the flames and have been ever since. (i call them my home team)

i really didn't understand hockey until 2003-2004 lol...

I liked the Thrashers when they were originally announced partially because a young me loved their logo, but also because I liked some of the players that ended up going there in the expansion draft. Thrashers moved to Winnipeg, I became a Jets fan.

The Oilers are my second fiddle, due to me living in the Edmonton area, and the atmosphere at Rexall Place. It's easy to fall in love with the team after seeing a game with that crowd.

First, I went to a Kings game. That got me into the sport. Second, was the 1993 Cup run. That got me hooked. I've never fallen off the bandwagon & now I feel rewarded.

I think I just picked the Islanders over the Rangers (would never think about rooting for an out-of-town team) simply because I liked the logo and uniform more.

Jumped on the bandwagon because caps actually where exciting team compared to majority of other teams. I Was a Red Wings as a kid, and this team has a same kind of feel.

I was 9 years old in 1967, was at my aunt's house in Lynwood, California (a suburb of Los Angeles), flipping channels on the TV, looking for cartoons, and locked onto a hockey game.

I said to myself, what the **** is that? Whatever it is, its ****ing awesome!

I was hooked...and of course, it was a Kings game...been a fan ever since.

I never became a Rangers fan really, I just was, as long as I can remember, and this is going back to before my 3rd birthday. NHL 10 got me into the Predators. I used to use them because they fit my style, and gradually I started keeping an eye on the real team. I didn't choose either of them really, they sort of chose me. It happened naturally.

You sure hedge your bets, don't you?

Your name: has Datsyuk in it. You say you are an Avs fans but I don't know one Avs fan who doesn't absolutely loathe anything to do with the Red Wings.

You have "Go Kings" in your byline and an avatar with the Kings in it.

That's three teams and counting.

Couldn't cheer for the Leafs or the Habs because all my friends were fans so I picked the team in the middle, Ottawa. Before that I didn't really have a team but favourite players like Leetch, Messier, Bure etc.

Yeah, fair enough. I wanted the kings to win the cup since they beat out the canucks and i was very young when the teams always played each other in the playoffs so i guess i did not really pick up the hate and Datsyuk is awesome but Colorado will always be my favorite team because of Joe.

The '06 playoff run by the Oilers was when I became a fan of hockey. The whole entire city had an incredible vibe to it when the Oilers were winning and also hometown team.

Got ya, was being rhetorical, thanks for the support this year!

Just for info, I don't think I have seen more hate between two teams then the Avs/Red Wings in watching the sport for 45 years...in the '70s, EVERYONE hated the Flyers, but that was Universal Hate...but between two teams (and I am talking a sustained hate here), that rivalry really went unmatched.

I live in Michigan and by proxy all the professional and college teams here became my team since I was a little kid. With the exception that I do not care about the Tigers or Pistons.

There was some guy names like Steve Yzerman or something that I idolized.

The teams I am die hards of are the University of Michigan football and the Red Wings. I also watch the Lions every week.

Check out the history of the Bruins dvd and see how much they hate, hate, HATE Montreal, to the point of spilling blood and almost killing players over the years. I can't see the Avs/Red Wings matching that!

But I digress.....

Grew up in Edmonton in the 80's so obviously fell in love with the Oiler dynasty. I loved the BOA against the Flames. I'd love this battle to be renewed and for a few Canadian teams to be contenders, not just one every year that has the polarizing Canada's team label.

Even with the low finishes the last few years, it's been so exciting watching the new youngsters coming into their own and I can't wait for next season.

as a kid was a Rangers then when the thrashers came to town they became my team and we all know how that ended so now that I took a year of without a team last week I decided to follow the Flyers from here on out. I like the history, the physicality, the skill, plus I hate the Penguins so it's a great fit.

Born and raised in Vancouver, was a Canucks fan. Liked that Grabner kid, heard he ended up on the Islanders. Decided to tune in and watch a game of theirs, just so happened to be the 9-3 battle royale. Now I'm an Islanders fan. Something about those sexy jerseys...

In 1990

I had seen a few Kings games during the 80's on local TV and liked hockey, but it wasn't until the playoff series against the defending cup champs, Calgary Flames, when this happened and I became a fan forever.

It was so surreal and chaotic and that was one of my favorite moments in sports history, (Gibson's homer being first), until this year.

My dad saw his first game at the Forum in '75. In turn, I was born bleeding black and silver.
