I'm thinking about Brad Richards, and I think it took till the next day. He was on the market for 24 hours almost or at least went unsigned for almost 24 hours.
Not that it's much, but I hope Clemmensen, and whatever other hot goaltenders stay on the market. If they get re signed by their respective teams that's even worse, and all the attention goes to our guys. Then again the goalie pool is pretty much **** anyway.

As I sit here and look out my window at the rock I can't help but to be sightly depressed. Things just wouldn't be the same next season if one/both of Marty and Zach are gone. We were really close this year. After the Flyers bent over the Pens, Philly became everyone's sexy cup pick....until we maimed them. The Devils forecheck continually created problems for them in that series.
Then we stood no chance against the Rangers...until people actually watched the first few games closely. The Devils straight up brought it. A 40 year old MB30 stared down Lundswiss in his prime and beat him.
Despite playing with a ~40% Kovy and shanking numerous empty nets in the series, the Devils gave the kings all they could handle.
If we find a way to keep Parise, we're going to make noise for a long time considering our core is quite young.

With what's going down right now you would think none of this happened. You would think we were done in early April for the second straight year, and already well on our way down. I can't believe we're going through this after the great season we had. Again it's like getting married, and your wife tells you on the honeymoon she isn't coming home with you.

That's what's so frustrating about losing them. We're so close, maybe one player away, but losing them will set us back big time. Zach embodies the style of play the Devils need to play and losing him will be absolutely devastating. If he stays, his number will undoubtedly be going up to the rafters when all is said and done and he will be one of the most revered Devils of all time.
I think we should definitely re sign Sykie if Parise leaves, and we don't acquire anybody new. If he's willing to come back. We're gonna lose a 31, and 21 goal scorer? If there is no replacement there is no reason to pass on Sykie. We could use Sykora another year, and I have a feeling as much as I dread this that Tedenby will be Poni's replacement. So don't even say Tedenby will replace Sykora. Tedenby will likely replace Poni if not to save some money. At least at the start of the season. No reason not to re sign Sykora if we don't keep Zach unless there is a better option in mind via trade or free agency. We really weren't a high scoring team in the regular season. We have a 4th line that's good now, but that's enough to replace 52 goals especially with the prediction of many that Clarkson will fall back down to earth. We do have Zajac a whole year though hopefully, and he's good for at least 20 or more in a good year. Patty is getting up there in age. No one expected him to be 10th in points in the whole league this season, and I really don't know if I expect that much from him next season.
Sykie will likely get picked up by somebody else though I bet. It's probably gonna be before Parise makes up his mind too. Not many teams will be interested in him, but some will be. Maybe a few. They might even pay him over a million for a year based on his production in this last regular season. If the Devils don't wanna be bothered then I don't see him waiting around.
