Yea.

This post?

Don't believe this post, OP.

I think I almost died about 48 times while watching this team in the playoffs, because I would have to hold my breath during a Wideman-Sarge pairing shift and for once, it wasnt because of Sarge...

And I'm not afraid to rip on this team for a bad personnel move...

This is not one of them.

Every time time I see this thread title, I start laughing.

Sure with hyper inflation I see around me, this deal may be a steal 3 years from now, but everyone deserves a new chance after a change of scenery (again ), so lets wait and see what the flames fans think

Going into his 8th season in the NHL with his fifth team. The FBI would call that a clue!

I've seen a number of posts on the internet saying this was a terrible move for the caps, Wideman was our 2nd best defender after Alzner.

my take on this player, and his play in his own end seems to differ from many....

his problems, in general, are turnovers. Not in the typical way where he coughs it up in the corner or under pressure....more often than not its making a pass that he should not be making....up the middle, through a defender, that sort of thing. He seems to do that a lot too

I think its a decent move for the flames...a lot of $$$ but thats the price I guess

I wasn't speaking to it being a bad move for the Caps. The Caps don't need him, certainly not at that term/price. But that isn't the topic. The OP is asking how good or bad the player is and Wideman is top 4 caliber on many other NHL teams. I can see him improving Calgary's game.

...48 times? That's some serious drama.

True. How many shifts did he have in the playoffs? I was being conservative.

yeah, wideman had to go...

some of his games were so brutal it made me not want to ever again.

yeah he put up some points but thats not a defensemans first priority.

way too many turnovers which costed us, and he gets outmuscled so easily.

such a shaky defender

thank you gmgm
