Exactly my wise friend. You don't give little Louie 7-8 minutes on a line with bangers. That will stunt his growth. You put guys like Staubitz and White and Noke on 4th lines. We don't worry about their growth being stunted.

Here's what I think of when I think of Nokes:




Don't get me wrong. He's not an enforcer by any stretch of the imagination. But he's willing to stick up for the team, willing to throw with bigger guys and make a statement. He's okay in his own zone and he's good on the draw. For the price we're paying him I'm okay with this signing.

Point is....Habs ALSO seems unhappy with that signing 'cause they actually went after players that will, AT BEST, make Nokelainen the 13th forward. But Gaudstad will be playing regularly and so will McClement. So 575k I guess is more than enough for a guy who we already know, July 1st, that he'll be eating hot-dogs more often then not. Though Armstromg's "ability" to hurt himself might make him more a regular than anything else....

Point was never about that amount of money for a player. It was about retaining the said player and that, at that time, was not a sign that we were willing to change the face of those bottom lines. I guess today's day served that purpose....
