Kings won't have cap issues down the road, you stockpile prospects for cap relief. Scuderi leaves next year and 1 of the kids steps up to save 2 mill, same with Mitchell years later. When Gagne's contract is up, 1 of Kozun, Toffoli etc etc will come up saving the 2 mill there.

They don't need no stinkin video, no charts. Just take the Cup into the room on the desk, then look at him and say "You decide" boom.

Haha, now that would be a pimp move. It would put all the other GM's trying to court Parise's services to shame. Even if they lose out on him, they still walk away with the Cup.

So true. Given the fact that this team is still completely intact speaks volumes. Basically this team has shown that it can win the cup, and it sure as hell can do it again. Surely this will factor into his decision, as he will make this team better than it was when we won.

I guess the real question is, how badly does Parise want the cup vs a giant spotlight/payday? Can or will DL throw boat loads of money at him? I doubt it. So if he does come to LA, it will probably be a pay cut compared to what another team will be offering.

Oh yeah, thank you Kovalchuk for signing with NJ.

I got a boy coming in a few months, was planning on going with Luke (nod to Luc Robataille, even though the wife doesnt know, but I wasn't gonna try and slip Wayne or Marcel by her) Might have to make a strong push for Dean as well...

I named my son Lucian (Latin meaning "Light"). It's pronounced Lew-shun. But I can imagine I will call him Luc at some point.

The contract's AAV will likely be around that again as Parise will get a contract structured similar to Quick's. Front-loaded with a few years at the end tacked on to lower his overall cap hit.
Actually it went to arbitration. And in order for DL to keep his system of no two big players coming up on the same year we would be looking at a 9 year deal. The way Carters contract got as low as it did was going to 11. And 9 is the same term Richards signed last year but Parise is 5 years younger so should have more prime playing time left in him over Richards. And it doesn't really matter what the term is since in order to get a good AAV it will be the last big contract he ever signs. And that is where the big question comes into play. Is he willing to sign for less to play on the Stanley Cup champions? And if so how much less? Quick said yes to this but he has never played anywhere else in the league. I really suspect there will be one or two teams that will offer him 7+ AAV, those being Det and Pitt. And might even be willing to offer that on a 5 year term giving him one more big contract chance.

I definitely agree, and I didn't mean that if we get PAP Kopi is hitting 100 points and LA is winning another Cup. It meant that if he was dreaming about PAP coming to LA and he was right, I hope he dreams Kopi hits 100 points and LA wins more cups so it happens

We have zero shot at Parise. I'd bet money with all of you that he signs elsewhere.

It wouldn't surprise anyone if Parise signed elsewhere, but many reports seem to indicate the Kings will make an effort to sign him. Doesn't hurt to try.

We tried for Hossa, Gaborik, Richards, Kovalchuk, etc. etc. etc. Facts are facts. Dean will not pay big free agents and they won't sign with Dean.

Best part of all this, I couldn't care less if the Kings get Parise or not. Kings are the best team in hockey, the core is intact for multiple runs and they don't NEED Parise. He's gravy for this team.

My hope is that we end up with Shane Doan. These lines would be awesome! Our top three lines play almost the same amount of minutes each game.

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Carter
King-Stoll-Doan
Nolan-Fraser-Lewis

Quote:
However, Doan isn't itching to leave the organization and "wants to give the Coyotes every opportunity" to sign him, his agent, Terry Bross, told TFP Saturday evening.

Speaking to TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta, Bross indicated the earliest his client would sign a contract -- with the Coyotes or another club -- would presumably be July 8, the date in which the Coyotes will have a clearer picture as to whether or not they'll be staying in Arizona.

For those getting their hopes up regarding Parise, please look back on the HFBoards Kings sub forum circa July 1st, 2011, 2010, and 2009. You'll see a similar trend.

Kings will have no "cap hell" issues even if they sign Parise to a large contract. Teams that end up in "cap hell" have multiple unmovable contracts, the kings have zero contracts with NTC/NMC attached (maybe Richards, but that is unconfirmed). If the kings need space for Brown in a couple of years, they can make moves to get prospects/picks and then graduate someone from the AHL. Kings are setup nicely for the future, the only thing that could derail them would be if AEG sold them or went back to an internal budget.

As long as the kings are a cap team, they will not be in "cap hell".

Per Twitter:

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger As per @Real_ESPNLeBrun. Zach Parise will decide by 10am in terms of officially testing the market. Obviously, still a chance he stays in NJ

^^^ In regard to this, I gotta believe he would have re-upped with NJ within the past, oh, let's say 20 days or so if he really wanted to. Why wait until the absolute last minute like this?
