As a Rangers fan I would have preferred one year. For the most part Martin was very good and very reliable last year. He struggled towards the end a little.

Think this contract shows the weakness in the Rangers prospect pool--which is in goal. Giving a mid 30's backup goalie two years pretty much says you've got nobody on the horizon for a while.

We can afford that with Hank.

He's the perfect backup. Took his 20 games, some big ones. Took those games Henke would have burnt out on in the past. Eased the load. Result, sharper Henke in the playoffs....and oh yea Vezina.

Good sign.

I pity the goalie prospects in our system. Unless they are 5 years out, what shot do they have? Biron played some big games. He could compete to start for other teams. Being the backup is hard mentally... Especially for Lundqvist who is both elite and LOVED by the fanbasGot Got to be a team player all the way.

Good deal. Biron's an underrated goaltender. He's able to handle stretches, and be relied upon when necessary. If Lundqvist were to get injured for a a few weeks to a month-they could count on him.

Above average backup. Very good locker room guy. And most importantly. Lundqvist loves him. Good terms.

He's a great locker room guy and a solid back-up. Very happy to see him back.

And damn I wanted him on the leafs

The options out there were a considerable drop off after Brion. The price is right. I'm glad he is returning.

Let me make it clear. He is not elite as a starter obviously, but he is a real steady goalie and he is easily top 5 as a back up.

Can't wait to see Marty in some studio once he retires. Fun guy. If he's going to play for any team other than the Sabres, I'm glad it is once again the Rangers.

Apparently he just bought a new place in the Buffalo burbs so that he can be here in the summers again. I would love if he is in OUR studio after he retires.
