Nice to see a Law GDT again. Hopefully we won't come away disappointed this year. Wouldn't bet money on that though. Do something Garth to give us some iota of excitement.
Even if we don't add anyone half-significant, I will be happy if some team signs Parenteau for 6 years $30M, just to watch him and his contract fall flat on their face.
Six years for 6M is my absolute limit for Semin. Big risk but at the same time 6M isn't really all that much assuming the cap continues to rise.
We can certainly use a 2001-02 Yashin but at a lower price with lower expectations and better teammates.
I could see the Isles making an offer on Semin for a one-two year deal with a large salary just for cap purposes. However, it seems like Snow will add something and Wamg will require him to use his ELCs to make the floor

I have that same feeling about PA. Jason Blake II.
....and for whatever reason, I choose not to aim the flamewar I save for Charles Wang at your head.
Justify the effort. This should be your final chance to do so. Prove the ineffectiveness is Wang, and I renew support. Reveal that it is you, and I consider picking up my pitchfork and torch and marching along with the beat of the drum.
For the love of whatever God you believe in, prove you're awake.
NHL FREE AGENCY PREDICTIONS:
- Columbus will trade Rick Nash to Toronto
- Zach Parise will sign with Minnesota
- Ryan Suter will sign with San Jose
- Vancouver will trade Roberto Luongo to Florida.
- Garth Snow will sign some minor leaguers for Bridgeport. Then, he'll ***** about the Coliseum some more and cite the CBA as excuses for why he can't get anyone besides All-Stars like Marty Reasoner and Milan Jurcina to play for the Islanders.
In all honesty, we shouldn't expect miracles, but players such as Jason Garrison and Brandon Prust should be a realistic target to fill secondary roles. The only hope of landing a top player will be to trade with a team that needs to shed salary, and that is not likely to happen until we get closer to opening night.

Garrison will be expensive in the light of recent resignings but I can see the Isles making a pitch at Prust. He's just the type we need for the 4th line.
The only thing I'm certain of is that this off season will be underwhelming for the Islanders. At least July 1st will be.

Florida didn't resign Garrison bc, before the wideman deal, he was asking 5 yrs 5mil per. Who the hell is Garrison to expect a 25 million dollar investment when he had one decent year next to offensive dynamo Brian Campbell? 33 pts vs Wideman's 46. That's a big difference. I don't want to invest 5 mil in a guy who could be a jason blake on the back end.

A lot of teams will agree with you (and I) but somewhere out there a GM will become desperate enough to throw him a much bigger offer than he deserves. As much as I'd like him on the Isles he's not worth anything near 5 million.

I don't doubt someone will pay him that...or at least close to it. I just wonder where a guy who is a cpl seasons in, can value himself so high. He's got not a shutdown type & barely has more pts that streit had last season, and most of us thought Streit was awful(myself included until the 2nd half...injury took time to get over, but I digress).
I'm ok just getting a good #5. I read an article where Snow said our top 4 is set with Lubsky. I'm guessing a real cheap vet is our 5 & he said one of CdH, Donovan or Ness will be in our 6. The article even hinted at john friggin scott. I will vomit if he is signed.
