All I can manage is a subtle disappointment headshake for reading the words you wrote. Player rights aren't worth stomped sidewalk gum, so the Flyers will get Rick Nash for Matt Read, a late first and a 3rd round pick. Howsen is bad, but he ain't that dumb.

i'd be able to live with moving brayden. don't wanna see couts go though.
Really? I personally want to see what the Schenns can do on the same team. They already play Flyer style hockey, but now on the same team? They might just play that much more intense. No way Couts goes. The way he shut down Malkin was beautiful and Homer knows he has to match up with the Pens.
Could Nash restructure his contract if he arrives in Philly?
His contract still has six years, at 7.8. That will take him until he is 34.
The Flyers would have to add years. Tear it up and restructure to 6.5 -- he'll lose 1.3 million for 6 years, which makes 7.8 million (or one whole year.) Extend the contract until he is 40 (6 more years) at 6 million (which is a huge overpayment for that age) and maybe he'd do it to earn 36 more million after 34 years of age.
Something like that with different numbers / years.
If a Schenn or couturier, let alone both, is traded for Nash, I will not be able to forgive homer. He will have undone everything he did last summer. Don't. ****ing. Do. It.
i agree. couturier alone is more valuable to me than nash. it'd be ridiculous. he's a diminishing asset. its like when minnesota traded for heatley but way worse. oh well. no use bit chin bout what didn't happen yet.
I'm just trying to figure out how getting Nash makes us a better team than this year, especially at the expense of two young, improving, cap friendly players. If we have Nash this year, would it have put us over the top? No. So why go out and get him now, making it harder to acquire any other players because of the nasty cap hit he has? I can't see how this deal makes any sense.
