I'm not convinced the Leafs will get anyone signed today, but Burke will have to improve the team prior to the start of the season, otherwise he'll be looking for new employment by Christmas.

I think last year's team with a system would have made the playoffs.

House of cards fell when they hit some adversity.

I blame coaching first, goaltending second.

we`ll probably go for winnik or prust which i`m ok for today, but without a goalie and a 1st line center i don`t see us making the playoffs and burke keeping his job next summer...

my hopes for this off season is Nash, Backstrom and Prust.

We want to get bigger on the wing ala Philly and have our skill down the middle.

Trade:

Kulemin + Connolly + Colborne + D'Amigo + 2nd for Nash

MacA + Holzer + Rynnas for Backstrom

Lombardi for 3rd round pick

UFA:
Prust - $4.5 over 2 years - cap hit 2.25

JVR - Kadri - Nash
Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Ashton - Grabo - Frattin
Prust - Steckel - Brown/Komorov

Gunnar - Phanuef
Gardiner - Franson
Liles - Komisarek/Blacker

Backstrom
Reimer

Really?

They don't like Clowe? Kind of Jason Blake dislike?

Sign Prust, Trade Macathur + for C.Stewart.

Lupul-JVR-Kessel
Stewart-Grabovski-Kulemin
Kadri-Connolly-Frattin
Prust-Steckel-Brown

A Much tougher team to play against but also very skilled

Kadri might have had a better season without the knee injury since mobility is important for someone smaller like Kadri. By smaller I don't mean short, I mean thickness.

I'd be really interested in a line like:
Kulemin-Kadri-Frattin

That line would / should be good defensively and lead the league in posts.

Defenders would have a bit of a effort to contain them on the boards, both Kulemin and Frattin are solidly built players with lower centers of gravity.
That line is interesting but that would mean JVR 2nd LW.

I want to see him get a shot at #1c tbh.

Unless we get a tender or get one to step it up a notch, I can't see why we are not in the running for it.

If we do trade Mac, I hope it would be as part of a package for a center. He's criminally underrated on this board. The only knock I have against him is his size, but even then he is a snarly bugger.

Yeas please to Murray. I'm a big fan, physical beast.

If not, I like Jurcina on the UFA market.

I'm really hoping Burke does something completely unexpected.

Besides Suter, Bryce Salvador would be a good option as well. A nice gap filler until the younger defenders are ready to take a bigger role.

My prediction is a vet stay-at-home, physical D is added for overpayment, and a gritty bottom six forward added for a good price.

This is realistically the approach the Leafs should and probably will take.

Salvador on D
One of Prust/Tootoo on 4th line wing.

Yeah, I very like Salvador, the only problem is that he's a LH defenseman.

Sorry i just can't get past the feeling that Mac is one of "those contract players".

And sadly i feel he needs that extra little bit that is lost when he signs and that little bit makes the difference between hohum and nice.

His #s dipped last year but i put that more on Kuli and the hands of stone.

But i got the sense that something was missing from his game compared to the season before.

Why would it have any impact on JVR? JVR is a winger and isn't going to the first line over Lupul or Kessel.

Kulemin-Kadri-Frattin would be the third line.

This isn't a situation where you blame a dip in numbers on a linemate.

Mac is very much responsible for his #'s last year.

Komarov came to play in the NHL. He will be given every opportunity.

Explain to me again, with Brown and Leo, where either of Tootoo or Prust fit?

I would really like Tootoo

Like he did with signing Tim Connolly to a 2 year contract last season?
