Taxes are another reason why Lecavalier will never waive his NTC/NMC (whatever he has) to be traded elsewhere.
He'd lose MILLIONS.

Nothing major although I'll be pleasantly surprised if there is something major on our end.

Not really, no.
Maybe some trading after some names go off the board.

Maybe he could just trade some players for a week to Alberta so they can file here for tax purposes?

Drafting kids who grew up as Leafs fans helps too.

We're not going to get anyone through free agency IMO (at least nobody that will have a big impact).
It will probably be through trade.
Bruce Garrioch (I know he's Eklund-esque) reported that the Leafs talked to Doug Wilson about getting Murray from the Sharks.
He's pretty much like Schenn.

Not expecting anything too huge from the Leafs today. Really hoping I'm wrong though.

Definitely. Though in the case of a star like Parise, he could make significantly more in endorsements here, than in many other places.

I'd go for a 1 year Semin, or 3-4 years Doan.
Jokinen the best center available.
Disappointing crop, that's for sure. I'd stay away from Jokinen.

Leafs' chances of landing Daniel Winnik?
just read about it on HB, but there is some speculation from By Adrian Dater (SI).
what do you think of Daniel Winnik? solid 4th liner?

Yep, guesstimating a roughly ~3-4 million dollar pay-cut off the last 55 million he's due in Tampa if he moved to Montreal as an example.

Excellent point. For that reason alone I don't feel so bad about that chart anymore. Thanks for lifting my spirit!

HMM not thinking long term deal.
2nd line rw for a couple of years.
JVR/ Grabo /Jagr
Could be fun to watch.
Adds some size up front.

So I guess it's pretty concrete that Burke isn't going to try for either Parise or Sutter?
