he scored 50 points in 62 games last season. he's just been forced onto the 3rd line his whole career.

This is the type of free agent market where desperate GMs will make really dumb decisions.

I pray to multiple deities of various different faiths that Glen Sather is not one of those GM's today. I CAN see Burke doing something stupid though.

To be fair, the kid is a defensive guru. One of the best PKers I have ever watched play the game of hockey. Could win multiple Selkes, he reminds me of a young Rod Brindamour with less offense.

Thats awfully disingenuous regarding Staal. Hes been stuck behind two of the best centers of this generation for years.

When one was down for the majority of the season last year, he put up 50 points in 62 games. This is without even mentioning hes one of the best defensive centers in the game.

My point is every one will be overpaid now period you either pay the money or pay the price of a trade if u want to keep up

Portzline on radio now, talking about Nash.

Thinks Howson will have to take less than he wants, going to have to compromise a bit and that Parise and Ryan being available threw a wrench into the process. He thinks Howson is trying to get a great return to save face with the fans and organization, doesn't want to get fired.

Thinks 1 NHLer and a couple prospects or 2 NHLers and a prospect, doesn't think they'll get as much as they want.

What ridiculous talent? They have Malkin and Crosby. Neal played with Malkin. They are hardly ridiculously talented. They just have the two best players in the game. And Staal doesn't play with either of them.

that excuse of talent around him never worked for Nash and now all of a sudden it works for staal who now makes only 1.8m less and signed 4 years longer?

Interesting. His value can't be that high after a bad season and an injury plagued career.

The Rangers blew it when they passed on Parise in the draft and now it looks like we'll blow it again by passing on him again. I've said all along Slats would get Nash on his terms. Nothing I've seen has changed my thinking.

Of course he doesn't, but when Parise and Ryan are both moved and Nash is available will the offers flood in? I don't think so. I think there will be limited suitors and pressure may come from the Nash camp about moving him to the Rangers -- thus limiting the return further. The longer he holds onto his hand, the riskier it is for Howson.
