again depending on Suters perfered location ..the midwest...etc
could be alot of crazy offers from dark horses......the chance to get a true #1 whether a contender or playoff team or fringe playoff team....not saying money wont sway Suter from his preferred destination(s)
but teams could offer the max ...front loaded too for him
Either way, I think the Hawks should be in the top five of possible destinations for Suter. He did go on record last year as saying Chicago is his favorite road city because it was close to his hometown of Madison WI (less than a three hour drive).
And his uncle played here.
I think the fact that they are under the radar makes them a big threat.

I highly doubt anyone is going to offer the salary max, and a front loaded max deal would look insane.
With that said, free agency is known to bring the stupid out in GMs. If someone offers Suter the max allowed I would be pretty pissed if Poile matched. Unless it's Detroit or St Louis offering the max. Then, match it just so I don't have to take a vacation from HF Boards lest be driven insane.

Not that I think Chicago is out of the question (far from it, actually), but Gary Suter was running his mouth a few months ago about how Ryan should play in San Jose. There was some buzz about how Gary might know something we don't, and how family ties to the Sharks could push Ryan to play there. Turns out, he doesn't seem to be all that interested in family ties, and he apparently doesn't talk with Gary about business anyway.
Again, Chicago could easily be in the mix, but I wouldn't put too much stock in how much pull his uncle's playing history has.

most likely not but say a team thats outside the window of getting Suter....ie team in the east or outside of the midwest(in the west)
say like van spend the max to get a franchise dman would increase their odds for the cup and still be able to field a full team......again just an example of what could happen
again it all depends on what Suter values most in his descion making ....location and big paycheck may mena more over less location and a huge paycheck
Max cap hit on a $70m cap is what? $14m? There are maybe seven teams he would sign with who have that kind of money, and that's if he isn't necessarily opposed to going East (I don't think he is opposed, but I don't think he will).
Damn. How ridiculous would it be if Suter somehow managed to get paid more than freakin' Crosby? Talk about losing faith in the current CBA. Suter is bad ass and all, but he doesn't deserve to be paid as the best defenseman in the game, much less as the best player.
The only team that can sign both is the Wings. I think Suter is more likely than Parise, but who knows. There is no situation were they both go to the same place, aside from Detroit. None. Guaranteed.
DRW going full court press.... Owner and Chris Chelios with RSuter....Holland and Company with ZParise.

Yeah but according to Suter's agent they won't be having face-to-face meetings with anyone. Detroit essentially sent those two to sit on the phone. Suter could decide to sit down with them face-to-face, but we'll have to wait and find out.

No, he said Suter won't meet anyone today. However, I think Illitch is the type of person who can force a face-to-face and get a deal done. He is getting up there, he doesn't care about money anymore, you don't take any of it with you when you die so he is going to ham to bring a championship to Detroit.
