A left-handed d-man who never gets hurt, plays 30 minutes/night, put up 40-50 points/season before calgary. Can play PP & PK. Allow either seidenberg or dougie to play with chara. Only 2 yrs. Left on the deal. Even overrated & overpaid, sign me up. As long as the trade is discounted to account for his K, then yes please.
Players get stigmas for never becoming what they were expected to be, but that's a very far cry from being useless. He could be exactly what bruins need on the backed, and substantially improve transition while not having all the defensive ineptitude of corvo kabs or wideman.
I remember first hearing about JBo when he was 15. Skates like Orr... Big.. dominant offensively and defensively...
Ok so he never lived up to that. True. He'd still be the 2nd best overall D on the B's. Don't know if he's worth 6m or if we could afford him, but if there was a way to do it Chia would be negligient if he didn't explore it.
The thing with those pairings to me is that one of those defensemen would have to move back in a deal for Bouwmeester. If they get rid of him, their top 4 would be Wideman, Giordano, Babchuk and Sarich. Good luck keeping pucks out of the net. I really think they'd want Boychuck coming back along with a prospect not named Hamilton or picks.
Probably, but they don't want to move him. If they did they would be rebuilding in my opinion and want futures, picks and cap relief (plus I feel his value isn't that high). If we had to trade a roster player, Ference I love the guy, but I would offer him up in a trade.
Lightning signed Benoit Pouliot. 1 year / 1.8 Million
I was thinking 1.5. I'm kinda surprised it came in that high. Still, people have paid 2M for his kind of skillset before, so it's not really an overpay. Actually it's a pretty accurate reflection of his value, I just thought Chia's bargaining position was good enough to skim a bit off the top.
