lol what a waste. Can't wait to see Michael Leighton carry us behind this new Pronger-less defense. Bryzgalov's gonna get like 70 starts.

Realistically, though, I'd have to assume he wouldn't come back here unless he was promised a role as backup this season (Which we've heard before). I would have to think that he wouldn't come back just to have an AHL role for the rest of his career, or he would at least test the market in that case.
Of course, maybe no other teams showed any interest in him at all and he's just trying to set himself up financially for life - 900k is a big chunk of change for an AHL player.

He's not even an NHL backup. Outside of the one run a couple of years ago, he has NEVER had a save percentage higher than .905 at the NHL level.

Turco for example made 600,000 last season. Why not offer Leighton that??? He would have obviously taken it. This is as much overpayment as Shelley was.

he's a fringe NHL goalie who had one nice run in his entire career. other than that, he's an AHL caliber goalie

Why can't we just get someone else? They're all pretty much the same.

News flash, he's been an AHL goalie the vast majority of his career despite more then his fair share at NHL playing time.

Leighton's never proved he can even be a servicable backup. He lost his backup job in Carolina to a 36 y.o Legace for christ's sake. The only NHL success he ever had was when he was starting with us.

Paul Holmgren is incompetent. He needs to **** the ****ing **** off and get the ****ing **** away from my god damn hockey team.
Why, for the love of all things holy, would you OVERPAY Michael "Bane of My ****ing Existence" Leighton?!
WHY ARE WE WASTING 2 MILLION DOLLARS ON TWO MEN WHO COULDN'T MAKE MY HIGH SCHOOL'S TRIPLE A TEAM?!

Oh the horror. The flyers aren't going to make the playoffs because of Leighton.

Leighton's best success in the NHL came as a starter. He ain't a starter. He hasn't shown he's reliable as a backup.

Not really opposed to it...900k for one year aint too bad for back up. We just rip on Leighton because of that finals flop.
