I can see something around Methot for Hemsky. Not sure who has to add but Howson apparently liked Hemsky a lot

If Tambo trades Hemsky it will not be for scraps other wise they will just keep him, Tambo proved that at the deadline. Hemsky played very good at the WC after the season as over. The shoulders are healed and he will put some numbers up, can't wait until all the doubters eat crow.

EDM is not interested in Martin, we could get him for a 3rd if we wanted him.

Hemsky's a 5M player in Edmonton. He's been a good soldier for the Oilers the last 10 years. He's never complained and he would have been justified in doing so. He's been an island on the Oilers for years.

If he plays 70 games next season, he'll likely score 20 goals/65 points. On a short term deal with no NMC isn't bad. Hemsky's been a very loyal guy to the Oilers. He stuck around and kept his mouth shut when everyone else was jumping ship.

It's kind of depressing for Oilers fans but the truth is that players that love Edmonton are few and far between these days. Hemsky is one of them. So I'm fine with 5M on a 2 year deal.

This just shows you don't understand the situation.

You know things have changed since the trade deadline, right?

If I was EDM I would be looking at McBain, he shoots right and is young to grow with the team, plus he has size.

What would it take to get him, CAR needs fwds and EDM has a few.

If he gets traded, kind of a dick move?
yes
-He passes up on UFA to sign with Edmonton but is now on the block
-He's been good to Edmonton. You could say $5 million is a lot but it makes up for him taking a discount in his previous contract

No
-Hockey is business, go ask Richards,Carter,Van Rymsdyk, etc
-Even if he took a discount on his previous contract, he wasn't going to get $5 million had he tested the UFA market this Summer
-Depends where he gets traded to

As a Oilers fan, I hope we keep, even if he is injury prone. If he does get traded, I hope he goes to a instant contender and not another team that is rebuilding and years away from a chance at the playoff's

Being a Blue Jackets fan as well, wouldn't mind him in Columbus

Although we're short on defensive defensemen

Hemsky for Methot and conditional pick (based on games played by Hemsky)?

No he's not...

This year's deadline was the first time he was realistically in play.

Ryan Rishaug is out to lunch on this one. Hemsky has low value right now and would be in the Oilers best interest to keep him and play him and then trade him. He was getting better towards the end of the season and looked real good at the WC. Play him in TC as much as you can, show case him then trade him, but don't trade him for scraps.

If you think he is soft as butter you have never seen him play more than a game or two, that is 100% guaranteed. He's soft as butter like Datsyuk and Zetterberg are.

seeing Rishaug on TSN right now, he is purely speculating.
most of his expert analysis has always been way out to lunch, and I mean WAAAAYYYY out to lunch.
never thought the guy was on the ball,...in fact, I think he's an idiot.

Just watched Ryan Rishaug on TSN and he's speculating, there is no indication Hemsky's in play.

Some other Hemsky injuries.

Boogaard cheap shot at 1:50 that started his shoulder problems.

Another Regehr hit. He wasn't hurt.

I would hope he's looking for an elite PK'er in any position but centre(Horcoff/Belanger )

Hemsky has missed ~120 games in his career, 104 of which were his right shoulder(which has been fixed), and only once.
Datsyuk has missed 63 games due to various injuries.

Hemsky has only missed above 10 games in a row 3 times, and one of those was when he shut himself down for surgery.

Hemsky would help a lot of teams. He could certainly help the Jets.

The problem is what the Oilers expect in return, and how that corresponds to the risk to the acquiring team.
