Making a phone call costs $0.10 and then you can say you tried, even though you never were really "in it". It costs nothing and gives your fanbase the impression that you aren't just setting your sights on other team's 4th line roleplayers looking to polish a turd into a top 6 talent.

One player I would have liked, David Moss, signed for 2 years with CGY.
Looks like he's going to Phoenix.

Getting both of those guys will be huge to whatever team they go to.

I would cream my pants, drink coffee, spit it out, run around in circles, and scream all in thesame time if this happens.

Come on Mueller and MAG, or I guess that Parise guy would be OK too.

I'm all for becoming tougher to play against, but we also have a severe lack of skill up front. Given that there's a lack of players in free agency that bring both, if we don't re-sign Wellwood then let's get Huselius at a huge bargain. He could slot in as the 2nd line RW.

So how much money do we have to spend to reach the floor?

As of right now around 11-12 mil.
That's without spending for a backup tender and without whatever money Kane will make. Also with only 9 forwards on the books.

From what I know, floor is $16m below the cap. 70.2m for next year, so minimum is 54.2m.
We are at ~42.4M so we need almost 12m to reach the floor.
I may be wrong though, so I'd wait for an expert.
Holden, where are you?

Expecting Kane to get close to 5M something similar to the Kessel deal, and a back up goalie is likely close to 1.5 so thats 6.5M of the 12M they need to spend.

There will be plenty of 4th liners to sign that make up the balance.

I could only see it if it's a long term deal and we're buying up some of his UFA years.

It is, but if we don't give him that, we'll end up having to match an offer sheet for that much.
