Despite it not being a great crop of players this year, no doubt the main board is going to be chaos. So I'll try and keep this post updated with everything that is going on.
Hopes for today? Sign Garrison, Suter to the Eastern Conference and the Red Wings to give Parise a huge contract. Don't expect Tarasenko to sign for another few days.

Its a shame we don't need a winger rather than a center and defenseman, because the winger class of FAs is much better.
I`m not a fan of trading away our depth at wing but if we really have a shot at, lets say, Doan I`d have no problem in signing him and trade away one of our guys for help on another position
That's good point, but they said they may get creative so they could sign a winger and trade one or two of the younger wingers for the third center.
But this isn't that realistic because they still have to keep their payroll down.
The problem with the prospect of trading one of our wingers, who can we really say that we would be trading high on? Oshie is probably the only one that is a peak value. McDonald's injuries limits his value, Steen is just the type of player that will always be worth more to the team than in trade, Perron doesn't have that one really strong season that I think is needed to get good value and we all know the issues with Stewart.
I think it will be a years time before we start to see some major movement with the team.
At the same time, we can't exactly be looking for stop-gaps this summer when you see the likes of Souray and Kuba are looking for 3 year deals!

Agreed on bringing a gritty talented winger like Doan here. It's being said that Doan won't sign for another week however.

I actually fear the Red Wings signing Semin more than Parise.
If whoever signs Semin can get him playing with his head in the game every night, then he will be an outstanding addition and likely at a far more reasonable rate than Parise. I think the Wings might actually be able to get the best out of him.
If Detroit misses out on Suter and gives Semin a stupid contract, I will jump for joy.
I actually think Semin would be a good fit for Detroit. He started to round out his game last year. Plus, he would have the right type of players that complement his deficiencies.

I'd just rather them get Semin instead of Parise. I think it is safe to assume they will get one of them.
I forgot what last year was like, but things are slowly starting to pick up. I think we just have to wait for one biggish move, and then things will start to really pickup.

It does take a while to negotiate contracts, so its probably to be expected.
McKenzie is expecting Suter to get 10+ years, AAV at $7M+, and $28M in first 2 years.
I think Suter is really good, but I wouldn't give him that.
He's saying the same thing about Parise. I didn't really consider that their contracts would be so heavily front-loaded, which pretty much guarantees that we won't be signing either of them.

I'd happily see us give him his career contract of 13 years, but not at $7m+ average. If he follows the money, then I expect someone will likely offer him a 12 year/$90m deal.
Minnesota have already made him an offer and the rumor was that their offer to Parise was going to be in the $90m+/10y range!
