Stu Bickel wasn't so much a problem last year as our lack of depth was a problem. He was forced into a role that was above his head.

It's good to have him... there is never a year where a defense corp in NHL goes uninjured... He knows the system and can step in to give us minutes while adding toughness... He should not be our 6th Dman though, more like a 7 or 8, and he should improve a little bit this year, seeing as he is relatively young for Dman

I like this, should be a sufficient 7th D/13th F who can take a regular shift most games.

Bickel was impressive and somewhat of a factor in the regular season, it's when the playoffs started when everyone around him upped their physicality and intensity and Bickel kind of plateaued.

He's willing to drop 'em and is a physical monster. He'll fit right back into his role and I'm glad we locked him up again.

I'm ok with this deal.

Nothing major. Acceptable cap hit.

Nothing wrong with this signing, 7th dman at a reasonable price.

Can play him on D when we really need to, and can have him play center when we play the Devils.

TSN just showed the cap hit as $1.5MM. Hopefully they made a mistake...

I'm happy with this. Good value for a guy who can fill a couple roles.

When you play 5 minutes a game and still manage to have a negative impact on the game sometimes, you need to seriously improve.

I like Stu as the 7th d-man, not as the 6th. Sure, he can improve, and I hope he does because he's a likable guy who could fill the enforcer role so Slats doesn't sign a goon like Parros, but he's going to need to make a concentrated effort to get better at defense.

Either way it's a good signing, minuscule cap hit and he can fill a few roles.

Big fan of this deal and the money amount as long as Stu Pickles plays as well as he did last year. Great 7/8 defenseman but I'll be a little worried if he gets a bigger role.

(I know his last name, I'm still going to push the nickname I came up with lmao)

**** yes.

As silly as it sounds, the Stu Brewer is one of my favorite players. Glad he's back with the team.

I'm assuming it's a one-way deal?

Sauer isn't going to be ready to go. I really hope they are not going to go into the year with Girardi and Bickel as their only two healthy right handed defensemen
