Would have liked Whitney signing with the Ducks, but 9 million over two years... no thanks

Only see him signing in Dallas because of the term. Good signing though.

It's a good signing considering the cap is at 70 mil. If the cap was still at 48 mil like it was a few years ago, then it would be a bad signing.

Love it. Most of our top winger prospects are going to need a year or two in the AHL. This is a perfect stopgap.

To those saying its overpayment, get a clue. He finished 13th in league scoring last year. The Stars are way, way under the cap floor(even once they give Benn 5 or 6 million). Its only 2 years. theres really no downside.

Glad the Canes stayed away from that. For me, 4 per would be the MAX. Good luck Stars fans, hopefully he produces. I mean that sincerely.

This is a good deal. And finally a player who just went for the money, and won't have to spout all that 'I just want to win' garbage.

Get paid, retire. Smart man.

how do you know? Answer me this, if Parise and Suter didnt show any interest in Dallas, and Dallas has a ton of cap space, instead of leaving excess cap space, why wouldnt they just over pay for some guy willing to accept?

Not an overpayment at all, he was the center of Phx's offense last year. Scoring 77 points nowadays is really, really good.

I think the biggest worry is he's over 40. You never know when he's going to fall off the wagon, and you don't want him retiring and leaving $4.5 on your cap.

Good for him. He had an awesome year, showed he can still play, and gets a two year contract at 40.

Once again, money is no issue to Dallas. They could have paid him 6 mil a year for 2 years and it wouldn't have made a difference. We're not going to be a cap team and we need to hit the floor.

Quote:
Dallas has a lot of legit top 6 wingers in Morrow, Benn, Erikkson, and Ryder but still don't have the right centre. Not to mention they just traded away their first line centre from last season in Mike Ribero.
Benn is our #1C.

Only ten forwards in the NHL had more points last season.

Read that sentence again.

Crushing loss for Phoenix. Crushing.
