I like this deal. I think fans will love him once he gets in the jersey and plays the way he does.

Having said that, Slats should go after McClement for the 4th line. I think he'd fit in pretty well.

Rupp-McClement-Asham would be nice.

No thanks.

Play on the edge. This guy is over the line.

Your trolling is epic today. The lack of sarcasm smiley from you is throwing everyone off.

I just can't understand your love affair with Mitchell.

Guy is NOT AS GOOD as the advanced metrics try to make him out to be.

Somebody to pound on Carkner, which is something I really want to see some day. I actually liked Asham when he was with Philly, I remember when he held up on Mara when he could have annhilated him.
Might be good.

Advanced metrics are ****ing dumb. I've said it many times.

Marcel Hossa was a far, far better puck possession guy than Mitchell. Boy do we sure miss him.

Considering what Prust is likely going to command and the contract that Adam Burish just got, this is a great deal. I've always liked Asham, spark-plug who other teams hate to play against.

Yuck, I mean this isn't the worst they could have done, but oh well.

I guess we'll see.

Pathetic. I remember ridiculing the Penguins and their fans when he pulled off this junk in the playoffs. Now I can't stomach this goon on this team.

Ashams a good player, a good big body, a good fighter...he's basically a bigger, meaner version of Prust...maybe doesnt work "as hard" as Prust...but hes a damn good 4th liner, and at 1 mil per, thats a great pricetag.

Good value for a replacement for Prust. I like it.

1.) In truth this is a good signing because he fits and is cheap. From a business standpoint I absolutely approve. From a personal standpoint I do not like him.

2.) Brashear was a much worse signing. At least Asham can play a little bit of hockey. Brashear was a straight up goon, and an expensive one that was already over 35.

Guy is good. SC winning coach trusts him and I'll take his word over the armchair coaches.

I'd like to see statistical evidence to back this up.

Asham is also a better offensive player than Prust. Meaner, Stronger, Bigger, Badder...love it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm worried about dumb penalties too. There's no question he'll stick up for team mates when necessary, which is good, but he takes it too far sometimes.

Last week I proposed Asham as a Prust replacement in the Prust thread, and no one had an opinion.. I didnt realize there was this much animosity towards him. Kinda like Avery,,

Would've much preferred Konopka, who got a very similar deal from Minny. Hopefully that was Konopka's choice, and not NYR going after Asham instead of him.

Brutal . More plugs .
NJD and LAK 4 th liners could skate . Slow and slower . NYR goal should have been to get faster and be able to get puck posession .
Horrible move

Just signed a useful fourth liner and a seventh defensemen for less than just Prust wanted. I will take it.

Not a signing I particularly like, but he's a Ranger now.
