Ashams a good player, a good big body, a good fighter...he's basically a bigger, meaner version of Prust...maybe doesnt work "as hard" as Prust...but hes a damn good 4th liner, and at 1 mil per, thats a great pricetag.

Unfortunately Asham doesn't kill penalties, which Prust did quite well.
We're all on the same page with this one pretty much huh? Hopefully we all end up loving this guy as much as we hate him right now. It's going to be hard looking at his whiny clown face for 2 years, but if he provides a bit more consistency on the 4th line then he'll have done his job.

im actually drooling at the thought of a 4th line with Rupp, Asham, and another mean spirited SOB out there to kill people. THAT is what a 4th line should do. I dont need it to score goals, i want it to frikkin hurt ppl.

Our 4th line was fine at bringing the physical play.
It couldn't skate or play defense against the Devs, though.
I'd like to see statistical evidence to back this up.
The Rangers success this year is enough. We were at the bottom of a number of advanced metrics (at least for the first 2/3 of the season). Everyone following that garbage predicted us to cool off. We never did.
Advanced metrics in a team sport like this are useless. If you want to follow that stuff and claim that guys like Johnny ****ing Mitchell are worth keeping? Go ahead. Don't get mad when people tell you how it really is, though.

Our 4th line was what....Fedotenko, Rupp and Mitchell? something like that? Rupp is a hitter, Mitchell thinks he's TGO, and Feds is a decent cycler. Go get me Tootoo right this minute.....stick him with those 2 sociopaths and put a line out there that will strike fear in the other teams hearts...

Look, we all love pruster, and he was a great soldier, great team guy, etc. But hes NOT worth 2...2.5....and some teams are now talking 3+ mil a year. Hes a 1.2 mil a year player AT BEST. I would argue Asham is a better player in nearly all facets (and PKing can be taught...pretty much everyone on the Rangers bottom 9 can do it) and is coming in at maybe 1/3rd of the price. LOVE this deal.
