Depends on the structure. If he's still getting, say, 4 million in year 11, I think it would be fine.

This point gets lost--it really isn't about length--it's about how the money is distributed over time--and whether a player is likely to play for that.

I think the Kovalchuk contract had him playing like 4 years at the league minimum at the end, or something similarly absurd. That was the problem.

i know distribution is the problem but does anyone honestly expect Suter to be playing at close to 40? If not he wouldn't be seeing a decent chunk of this money because the contract is legit, so why would he sign that contract instead of a shorter term deal with someone who can actually afford it like say detroit?

touché.

If the pens are indeed getting Parise, I want calls made to Semin immediately. I want a goal scorer on Girouxs wing.

Following this all day and all we have to show is Leighton. And not even a solid rumor except that we've made offers to Parise and Suter, as did 29 other teams.

The cap will probably he higher by then, and giroux doesn't strike me at all like a guy who would put money over staying with his team and trying to win a cup.

Eklund

Offers for Parise and Suter are plain UNREAL. at this point I can't see either NJ or Nashville matching. Way higher than reported 12 yr/$80M
I guess he's reffering to the 100 mil 13 yr deal?

So who should replace Jagr then? Parenteau?

I really want Parise, but 10/110m would make him the highest paid player in the league by about 1.5m. I know the cap is going up, but holy ****, not worth it. 13/100m I could live with.

Oh I'm not complaining about Homer, just the lack of excitement about our squad not doing anything yet. It's not like there are all stars being signed either, I'm just very impatient.
