When did Elias re-sign when he was UFA? July 1? What time?
I agree with some of the sentiment here that if we can't counter and sign him, we shouldn't wait around for him.
This ownership fight between the two owners and the resulting financial mess (make no mistake that it has an impact on it!) is screwing us if we have a budget below the cap ceiling. Because honestly we should be able to replace Poni, re-sign Brodeur, and even consider Suter and still fit Zach in.
Doubt it, given what it would cost. Am I the only one that thinks they're relatively content with Wedgewood/Kinkaid possibly being the goalie(s) of the future here?
Kinkaid, and Wedgewood being the goalies of this coming year? Or the more distant future? I think they think a lot of Wedgewood.

RT @ice_chip: Rutherford says Canes may receive answer on Parise today. Said decision on Suter probably would take longer.

RT @ice_chip: The "answer" on Parise may be whether Canes are on "short list." Final decision by Parise's camp could come tomorrow, he said.

It's not about the cap. It's about actual dollars being dished out. Remember, Kovy makes $11 million in salary for the next 5-6 years, I believe.

More distant future. But possibly as soon as 2013-2014. Definitely not this year at least. I'm not a scout so I can't tell you what year the Devils have in mind for either of them as potentially being the primary starter. But I would assume they are content with the notion of one of them as the starter down the line. If Brodeur is coming back, its with intention of him being the starter obviously. If he doesn't and its Moose that's back, he could just as well be the starter for a year or two. The stop gap option is definitely there one way or another (unless both go elsewhere).

Exactly my point. The finances are the issue here and are constraining us big time. We have tons of cap room but we aren't going to be able to use it because of this budget we've heard about.

Source: Parise and #Pens have agreed to deal. Will be announced shortly, still discussing pay allocation (very front loaded). #DoneDeal #WOW
Not that reliable but we'll see.
What the hell is wrong with you? Don't you know by now that Zach's decision won't be until Tuesday?
The media just cannot wait for Zach to go to Pittsburgh, everyone in the world outside of NJ and other cities that want him must be in his ear begging him to be Bosh to Crosby's LeBron and Malkin's Wade. I mean really, the best American forward to go along with the best Canadian forward and the best Russian forward all on the NHL's chosen team? The NHL would have a ****ing field day.
