He's basically the Darche replacement.

Not really a big fan of Armstrong, he's not very tough and I don't believe in his offense anymore. That said, at $1 million I can't complain too much. I said it last night, but it should be funny to see how much he and Subban get under the opponents skin. I'd be happy enough if he put up 30 points.

It's gonna feel good when the Leafs pay Armstrong to score a goal against them as a Hab

great signing... very pleased with that. I had wanted habs to land Armstrong at <2M$ on a short term deal, a 1yr/1M$ deal is perfect.

Injuries derailed his career, but if he's healthy this summer and can stay relatively healthy (especially avoiding another concussion), I'm betting that he has a great year.

- familiar with the coach
- motivated to prove his Toronto stop was bad luck, not a bad signing (at the time of his 3yr/3M$ deal, it was a good signing based on his play in Atlanta)
- life long habs fan, extra motivation to play for his boyhood team

I don't expect him to step in and be a dominant top-6 player, obviously, but he's definitely shown in the past that he can step in and not look out of place next to offensive players if injuries necessitate it (a better option that Moen or Darche to be the top-6 fill in)
I do expect him to be an excellent bottom-6 player for us...

a line of Moen- White - Armstrong could be very fun to watch and a real pain in the ass for the opposition. Therrien said he wanted us to be a tough team to play on our home ice, these 3 are the types of players who will take that message to heart and go out and make it happen.

Bergevin's early moves are making me

Love this deal I was talking to some friends earlier and when I read that the Laffs bought him out I said I would love for us to pick him up. I am glad we brought him in rather than Lats that is for damn sure.

Assuming armstrong stays healthy and has a decent year, what could he fetch at the trade deadline?

A 2nd round draft pick if we're lucky, which would be great.

We could also package him with a 2nd rounder to get a 1st rounder.

Anywhere from 2nd to 3rd round pick.

Not the type of player that we need but I guess Therrien loved him enough to get him back. We'll see.

We don't need gritty bottom six wingers who can chip in offensively? If his body stays healthy this is exactly the type of player we need, for a bargain price.

yyyyyyyyyyeah I'm just gonna pencil him into the 14th forward spot & see what happens at camp.

Just nobody tell Colby, k?

PS that trade deadline idea is brilliant. I'd never thought of it that way. You are schemers and dreamers all.

He doesn't seem to have that edge these days, though.

We'll see. He's 29, and is gonna be on a 1yr deal... he pretty much has to prove himself this year, as his livelihood is at stake.

Good signing for you guys.

I really liked him in his first season with the Leafs. A slew of injuries ended up leading to his buyout. He is a real good agitator when he is on his game. At $1million dollars you got a low risk, potentially high reward signing. At the very least you have a very hilarious guy on your team.

Bergevin signs players, not Therrien.

I'm sure Therrien speaks to Bergevin and at least gives him some input about which kind of players he likes.

Come on, two former Therrien players, you don't think he didn't have anything to do with that?
