I'd rather see him re-signed in the next couple hours so Lou can focus on re-signing Marty.

I still think Lou is dumb for not giving up this years pick. We could seriously become a non-playoff team depending on what happens this offseason.

When did Elias re-sign when he was UFA? July 1? What time?

I agree with some of the sentiment here that if we can't counter and sign him, we shouldn't wait around for him.

This ownership fight between the two owners and the resulting financial mess (make no mistake that it has an impact on it!) is screwing us if we have a budget below the cap ceiling. Because honestly we should be able to replace Poni, re-sign Brodeur, and even consider Suter and still fit Zach in.

Sign Jessiman as a Parise replacement. Just in case.

Kinkaid, and Wedgewood being the goalies of this coming year? Or the more distant future? I think they think a lot of Wedgewood.

I think Elias re-signed around 3-4 ish on July 1st. I specifically remember that we signed Langenbrunner and White beforehand.

Wedgewood's stock went up alot after the WJC I hear. So maybe the braintrust is sold.

That would really be a stab in the back too.

It's not about the cap. It's about actual dollars being dished out. Remember, Kovy makes $11 million in salary for the next 5-6 years, I believe.

If Paul Martin helps the Penguins sign Parise, how can they trade him to free up space for Suter?

********. Parise's production can mainly be replaced by the return of Zajac.

More distant future. But possibly as soon as 2013-2014. Definitely not this year at least. I'm not a scout so I can't tell you what year the Devils have in mind for either of them as potentially being the primary starter. But I would assume they are content with the notion of one of them as the starter down the line. If Brodeur is coming back, its with intention of him being the starter obviously. If he doesn't and its Moose that's back, he could just as well be the starter for a year or two. The stop gap option is definitely there one way or another (unless both go elsewhere).

Exactly my point. The finances are the issue here and are constraining us big time. We have tons of cap room but we aren't going to be able to use it because of this budget we've heard about.

Not that sold. They won't toss him straight into the NHL, that's how you ruin a kid.

The media just cannot wait for Zach to go to Pittsburgh, everyone in the world outside of NJ and other cities that want him must be in his ear begging him to be Bosh to Crosby's LeBron and Malkin's Wade. I mean really, the best American forward to go along with the best Canadian forward and the best Russian forward all on the NHL's chosen team? The NHL would have a ****ing field day.

Kinkaid has a year of pro experience under his belt and is like what, 23? I wouldn't mind him as the understudy and Moose getting 55 starts.

Wedge is barely 20 and hasn't even gone pro yet. he's the better prospect but at LEAST 2-3 years away.

We haven't heard anything about Marty holding out waiting for the Devils only Bryce and Moose, But do you think he is holding waiting too?
